So, apparently it doesn't matter any more.
History The company was founded in 1884. Since 1891 the company has delivered knives to the Swiss army. Their famous emblem — a cross in a shield — has been used by Victorinox since 1909. That year, the mother of founder Karl Elsener died and he changed the name of the company to "Victoria" in her honor. In 1921, with the introduction of "inox" (the French term for stainless steel is acier inoxydable) into their products, the brand and name of the company became the present "Victorinox" ("Victoria"+"Inox"). On 26 April 2005 Victorinox acquired Wenger, the other official supplier of the Swiss Army knife. For now, Victorinox has announced that it intends to keep both brands intact.

I have my son to thank for mine. He found a knife in the street a few years back and brought it to me. It was a real Victorinox Swiss Army knife. He was a way too young at the time to have a pocket knife, so I cleaned it up and have been using it ever since. I have to confess to not taking it eveywhere, mainly only when I'm wearing jeans, but it is very useful and keeps a super sharp edge.

Victorinox here. Just the simple one with a couple of knife blades, phillips and flat tip screwdriver. Helped me get home last Saturday when the fuel regulator went bad on my '60 Willys Wagon and started gushing fuel all over the engine. Whipped out the knife, unscrewed the hose clamps pulled off the regulator, reconnected and was on my way.
