May as well strap a Pratt & Whitney to the roof also!

legion 07-31-2007 05:56 AM

Does that use a v-drive?

notfarnow 07-31-2007 06:11 AM

Even if you find the idea of a V8 in a 911 distateful, you have to respect the hard work and ingenuity that went into that car.

A lot more work than an adapter plate and hacking in a radiator.

TerryBPP 07-31-2007 06:12 AM

That will be fun when the serpentine belt breaks. Whiplash...get it. Ahhhh, I'm so funny. :D

legion 07-31-2007 06:14 AM

Very nicely done. It took me a while to figure out where he put the radiator. (I'm used to seeing bastardized hoods....)

Still, I have to wonder how that thing handles...

Mo_Gearhead 07-31-2007 06:18 AM

Wow, what an engineering nightmare that must have been? Have to hand it to the guy, some amazing thought and fabrication went into that car.

Guess the answer to the question of ...WHY?? is just... because he wanted to see if he could do it?

kach22i 07-31-2007 06:25 AM

Kind of a sleeper with the fake luggage, but it's an automatic.

I bet it screems in a straight line and eats tires like they are going out of style.

notfarnow 07-31-2007 06:31 AM

I'm sure the handling would be "quirky"... He says it added ~400lbs. Mind you, the weight is moved toward the center.

I'm used to seeing conversions with audacious interiors and big PORSCHE scripts all over the place. I'm impressed that he kept the rest of the car so clean & near stock.... it just looks like a nice, well-kept Targa.

legion 07-31-2007 06:44 AM

If you never opened the rear deck or tried to take out the luggage, you would never know.

I was impressed that he maintained the front trunk.

Neilk 07-31-2007 07:24 AM

He should have used a turbo tail instead of making all those louvers.

I like the louvers, helps maintain the "sleeper" image too. Well as "sleeper" as any Porsche can get.

trekkor 07-31-2007 08:41 AM

I like it!!

I think it would be a fun drive, too bad he couldn't get a muncie 4 speed in it.

Poor guy has been trying to sell the car for years, though. One of those perennial eBay cars.

serge944 07-31-2007 10:33 AM

Wow, that thing is very cool. Probably the nicest 911 v8 conversion I've seen. Sleeper.

Jeff Higgins 07-31-2007 11:40 AM

Sorry, that's no 911 anymore. The flat six is its heart and soul; both are gone from this one. How many would buy a Harley Fat Boy that has had a Honda Shadow motor grafted into its frame?

chapo 07-31-2007 11:47 AM

It started out as an 912E, no sixes were harmed.

Yes, because without the VW motor it's just not a porsche...

LOL

A 911 engine is a VW, not a Porsche, engine?
