Teens today, fearless... or brainless??

Last night I was at the firehouse for our meeting. Later on one of the younger comes comes in and says to me and a few others. "I think you better come outside". I go near the door and hear some commotion. Walk outside and there is a bunch of kids that pulled up and apperently had a problem with one of our guys. There was three cars of teens, about 11 of them. They were
going back and forth with a few of our guys, and it was getting ugly. Two had bats on them and where making threats. Needless to say the firehouse cleared out and there was about 25 of us out there.
Me and a bunch of the older guys stepped in to diffuse things. As soon as we walked out they immediately backed off and went back to their cars. All of them except two. They continued to shoot their mouths off and threaten us.
Now these two were the ones to be scared of. The big guy was about 5'6 and built like Paris Hilton. The real aggresive one was an oriental kid about 5'3 and looked like Paris's skeleton. Both of them started coming towards us and the little guy got in the face of my buddy Chip. Who is built like a linebacker. he went to take a swing and Chip made a move to go after him and we grabbed him before he could. So One of our other guys steps in, my buddy Rob who we call Mongo for good reason (hes 6'4 280.) The little nutjob starts threatening him. The other guys screaming that hes gonna bash everyones head in. Needless to say, they would have gotten stomped. But we showed restraint because they were young. (we later found out they were 18 and 19).
We called the police immediately but they all eventually left while threatening to come back and get us.
Now is it me or are kids today that fuchin stupid??

Same as always--a little of both brainlessness and fearlessness.

I could see myself doing something like this when I was younger. I know better now.

speeder 08-02-2007 10:24 AM

They are that stupid, Vinny.

azasadny 08-02-2007 10:28 AM

methamphetamines...

dafischer 08-02-2007 10:40 AM

They grow them stupid these days.

True same here, but even I knew when to back off and not get an as$ kicking.
I see stuff like this all the time. I amazes me. They all think what a bunch of bad as$es they are. Not to mention the lack of respect for adults and authority in general. We all laughed about it afterwards, but it could have gotten out of hand real fast.

I was once young and stupid. I could see letting my arrogance get me in too deep.

Ya but you must have been you, stupid and tough.

LOL, even at my most arrogant and fearless stage, I guess I was too much of a weakling to even contemplate picking fights at the firestation.

A couple of my friends are firefighters, and I've met their crews at parties etc. Great guys, but not the kind of fellahs I'd want to have a "dust up" with.

BTW, what pissed these kids off anyway?

id10t 08-02-2007 11:06 AM

Mebbe they were being "smart" and looking for a lawsuit...

Other than that, I vote for "dumb teens doign the things dumb teens do"

What should they be scared of? It's not like they're ever gonna get the beatings they so sorely need. They'll never be handled properly by the cops, wouldn't ever serve any real time for hurting someone, wouldn't be able to pay if they lost a personal injury suit. What do they have to lose unless, by some tiny chance, they come across some tougher crowd who take no sympathy on them and couldn't care less about the consequences for giving them a thumpin'? There is no justice anymore and the more kids like this realize it, the worse they'll behave.

You guys are all wrong,

Didnt you hear about the New Jersey State Science department loosing those 2 clones recently? The two escapees are young males humans mixed with a very large percentage of Chihuahua genes. Are known to be way overly aggressive for there size and weight. They just need a good kick!

Apparently one of them had an personal issue with one of our younger firefighters, ( it wasnt even one of the two "tough guys"), and they had been talking on the phone right before the incident. So he decided to come to the firehouse to take care of it. Guess he decided to bring some backup.

It was pretty comical. Seeing this little guy being badass with a guy that had close to a foot and 200lbs on him. Robs hand is about the size of this guys head.

reminds me of this.:D

No, I can't say I was tough at that age. Something of a wimp and pretty violence-adverse, actually. I now have 50 pounds on my 19-year-old self...and I bench press 175 lbs. more than I did then...

sammyg2 08-02-2007 11:24 AM

Things were different back then. If your mouth got you in trouble you got the asswhipping you had coming. your parents would say "well you asked for it, you got it. next time keep your mouth shut" or something like that.

Nowadays, the parents would realize their little mouthy punk POS was in the wrong but they would pretend he wasn't and defend him and and sue everyone within 100 miles.
The punks realize they won't get the asswhipping they are asking for and they know they can get away with it.

I am one of the dinosaurs. I will still asswhip a mouthy punk if he deserves it, damn the consequences. I figure I'm doing him a favor by knocking him senseless. He needs to learn life's lessons and if his parents won't teach him I will.
If you have mouthy, arrogant punk kids and you won't step up to the plate and be parents, keep your kids away from me ;)

I think the 2 that kept coming at you guys felt there was safety in numbers, guarantee if you saw them alone they would have a different attitude.
It's good to see that you guys kept your cool, kind of tough to do and it shows the younger guys how to act.

Love that pic of the dogs, I have that picture hanging in my office.

VINMAN 08-02-2007 11:53 AM

What safety in numbers?? The rest of them bailed and ran back to their cars when we came out of the firehouse. LOL

Sammy you are right about the parents backing their kids. My stepsons a total wiseas$, (not in a nasty, but an annoying way.) A very good kid, but a wisea$$. My wife thinks its cute and funny. I keep warning her that one day hes gonna say something to the wrong person and hes gonna get his jaw broken and she wont think thats so funny anymore.
