try to keep it clean guys.

No offense on-ramp, but as someone who has had buyers flake multiple times on showing up to buy things, your behavior is crass at best. It is incredibly rude to say you're going to show up and do something and then just vaporize. At least have the balls to pick up a phone and say you won't make it. Your actions show no respect for other's time.

A reasonable person in your situation would have picked up the phone and said, "it is raining too hard, I'll try to make it another time." Then when called the second time, would have politely declined the tire.

Sorry man, but imho you're so far in the wrong on this one it isn't even funny.

I was going to meet a girl from there once but she turned out to be a flake. What are the women of CL like?

I use Craigslist weekly, either buying or selling.

My rule is first to show up with cash gets it - I will not 'hold' anything. If more than one party is interested, I will make an appointment. If you are more than an hour late, I notify the next in line that the item is still available.

All transactions are followed up with a phone call, people are too irresponsible over email. Never been let down when I speak to people on the phone.

Items listed for free seem to invite extremely unreliable people who never show up - I wonder what this says about their personal situation. They usually can't afford to buy the item new and then they can't manage to get there to pick it up for free.

This thread proves what onrump is - selfish and disrespectful. Yeah, that's a funny story there sparky. Have you stabbed any dogs in the eye lately?

Depends on what you're looking for. My experience with online dating has been that women usually say the opposite of what they're looking for. If they say they just want to meet new people to show them around because they're new in town, no dating, no sex, no chance.....well, that means they want NSA sex and just don't want to get your hopes up in case you're not what they're looking for.

First one I bagged was a scorching hot Taiwanese girl whose ad said she only wanted to meet new people, no hooking up. I knew that meant she was game. She actually called me and we hit it off. Turns otu she had dated a guy who was on Rush's crew and she knew their music pretty well. Anyway, at the time, I was trying to kick my ex out of the house and she was really dragging her feet. Well, when my ex (also Chinese) ran into this CL lady wearing a thong and one of my t-shirts in the kitchen the next morning, they had some words in Chinese and my ex found a new place to live that night. It was a two-fer for me.

I bought a set of wheels for my Miata on CL.

I didn't want the tires, so I asked for a lower price. She said after many callers promising to come buy them, I was the first to actually show up. She wanted them gone, and would rather take less money than put up with a bunch of no-show low-lifes.

My apologies. I could sworn I read that you didn't show up once, and then claimed you would show up AGAIN and didn't. I will go back to school and learn how to better interpret funny jokes. I should also have you teach me a lesson about punctuation.

lendaddy 08-05-2007 04:50 PM

How, in any context and ignoring the jackass factor, could you have possibly thought that was a funny story?

rammstein 08-05-2007 05:19 PM

Clearly, Lendaddy, you are retarded. Thats the problem. Its also very classy for me to call you that.

trekkor 08-05-2007 06:25 PM

Hardly funny, but check out this SC for $3900 on CL!

Craigslist taught me what "BBW" meant. <shudder>

I hope you knew that before meeting one. Big, beached whale.

+1

I needed a cheap TV for the bedroom. I called a guy in Houston who had a 32" older Sony for $150. I told him I would be there at 12:00 noon to pick it up. I showed up at 12:08 and was told by his son that there was a man there picking up the TV at that very moment!! My wife went bezerk. I told her calm down. In a situation like this, money is king.

I told the guy that I drove 80 miles to get there and was only 8 minutes late! He felt bad and ended up selling me another 32" TV out of his office. Turns out he was moving and needed to get rid of a lot of stuff.

Worked out great for everyone. I love Craig's list, but you have to be realistic. If someone is there with cash, I would take the cash too. I would tell whoever is interested that it's the first one there with the cash who scores.

Rick Lee 08-06-2007 11:07 AM

I have someone coming to buy my amp in the next 45 min. Problem is that there is no power supply in my storage garage, so I can't bring a head and guitar over for him to try it out. I live within walking distance, so I told him he could drive it over to my home garage and we could rig it up. He said not to bother and he'd be here with the cash. We'll see.

rammstein 08-06-2007 11:13 AM

Think about how funny it would be if he didn't show up! SmileWavy

Rick Lee 08-06-2007 11:34 AM

Yeah, that would be hilarious. On-ramp would laugh too, I bet.
