Not on CL, but on our local car forum I offered for free some obsolete computer equipment. The same day I got a PM from a college student who said he wanted the stuff.
"Fine. When can you come get it?" "Can you bring it out to me?" "What? Out to college town?" "Yes. I'm pretty busy right now." "Umm... no. I'll bring it next time I'm making a trip that way. Maybe next week." "Well... okay." Anyhow, he met me eventually and took the stuff. Then for the next week I kept getting all these PMs telling me how outdated the stuff was and that it wasn't good for anything he wanted to do... etc. Then he started complaining about all the porn that was on the hard drives, and telling me how some of that stuff just didn't seem normal, or legal. Whatever. Now when I have free stuff, it just goes to the landfill. Plus, now when I have old hard-drives, I perform a DoD 5220.22-M disk wipe and then physically destroy the drive platters. |

When I have to give something away free - I have my own forum - its called "At the end of the driveway". I simply place it out with the trash and play a little game that NEVER fails, I call it "how long will it last"!! I know - I need another hobby!

This thread is the funniest thing about CL I have ever seen. OR is an asshat.

Well, my amp buyer showed 10 min. early, paid cash and was happy as a clam. His mom drove him over, as he was too young. Every time I think the current generation of teenagers is just horrible and we're doomed, I meet one like this kid. Last amp I sold was a Fender Twin Silverface on CL. This kid played email ping pong with me for weeks, endless questions and finally came over to see the amp. He took the Metro from pretty far away in MD. When he arrived, he had three of his friends with him and a double neck guitar. Lucky I brought my truck. He played for about an hour, was awesome for a 16 yr. old and then he took the amp and I drove them all back to the Metro. Pretty hardcore for a guy to carry an amp that heavy and fragile on the Metro.
