The Barn

This was sent to me via email this morning...Enjoy!

The Barn

A NY man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15yrs.; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

Go to; www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm and start wishing that you had bought the place.

Just keep clicking on the word NEXT at the top of the page to advance to the next picture. Amazing what he got!

Getting to be twice a week!

Bob, you posted something about kids on my last art thread, but it's gone in the server shuffle. PM me if you want some T's for your kids. I've got some Spring stuff left over.

Sorry Art,

Didn't mean to offend you. I have been active in the forum for a few months now and haven't seen it posted weekly. Have never seen it...again sorry!

BTW: You must have some kind of interest in Snopes. . In a world of bologna, why does Snopes have the only true answers to a the worlds discoveries and lore?

Please explain!

Art's correct. This first came up at least 6 months ago, and in the last month or so has been posted at least once, if not 2-3 times a week. That's on top of seeing it several times on another board that I frequent and getting the email about a half dozen times. But, hey, we all miss stuff. I think Art was just letting you know. Of those 2-3 posts a week of this subject, I bet 75% of them have the same link that Art posted. I can't speak for you or Art, but I suspect Art was just brief in his post which could probably be interpreted as being testy. It's hard to read tone/intent in text. I find that it's easier on my blood pressure to assume the best instead of the worst.

Snopes is and has been the best location to look for the truth about internet myths for quite some time. It's all they do is research internet/email myths.

Just out of curiousity, I did a search for "portugal" and then counted the threads that mention a "barn find" in their title and counted 11. So I feel pretty safe in saying that this has been posted at least 10 times.

Haven't seen that photo before. What is the story on how the truck got parked on top of the Ferrari? Is that the garage door between them? Running start I assume?

Robert,

No offense taken. I was just trying to be brief. This "barn find in Portugal" is just getting real old, that's all. Sorry if my post seemed rude, but it wasn't meant to be. So far, I have found Snopes to be accurate and reliable...

Yes, that's the door between. You can see some of the hardware.

I wonder where the real barn was? That's a serious group of cars. No Ferraris, though?
I wouldn't have enough time left in my life to sort through all that, start them up if they run, and drive each one that might run.

For awhile, it was the picture of the cars (one was a Porsche) frozen solid in ice , parked in a garage that was posted weekly, now it's the barn in Portugal, I guess I just need to relax and ignore these "urban legends"...

Damn...the garage crash photo looks tragic! I wonder what it cost to repair that beautiful blue pickemup???

Art,

You're alright! I forgive me and you! There are good and bad issues with threads and email, they reflect no emotion. Its up to your mood per se' to read in more than what is actually there. So now that I like you again. Here is my oath as a reasonable man: I will never post "Portegee Barn" again.. And. as a Bonus I will check with Snopes "first" before I post any here say. Fair?

OK Fine!

Bob

Bob,
Thanks! Be sure to post your "barn find" when you come across one as they are cool to read!
