While I'm hesitant to be critical of any m'cycle enthusiast, be it brand or style, I am quietly amused by some friggin' dentist decked out in every HD fashion accessory available including the requisite "Live to ride, ride to live" black t-shirt...then you sidle up to his 3 year old Fatboy and notice it has a whopping 937 miles on the odometer.:confused:

Just as amusing is the rice racer boy in full matching leathers and you look at his rear tire that is completely worn slick in the center with no scuffing on the side tread:confused:. Sheesh:rolleyes:

Thanks for the compliments...I've gotten 30K trouble free miles out of it with probably 5-7K at track events and 1/8 mile drag racing.

OK, I'll chime in, as because of clients & friends, including a friend who passed over the summer who owned a biker bar (stroke did it) and many long time real bike friends (my former brother in law too) as well as some Rolex Riders You really want to think about this, my biker buddies gave me a great shirt to wear around my Hog Buds, So don't try and dress the part other than the safety gear to start, now some pix to think about, this is a good friend & racer buddy, who has many miles on his Customized Fat Boy, pulled out of his gated community, that had a acceleration lane, and waited for an opening in traffic when an old man crosses a few lanes and nails him:(

2000 Road King classic FLHRCI, Cobalt blue, Thunder header exhaust, Stage one kit. Black or chrome crash bars, quick disconnects (QD), passenger backrest QD. Leather bags replaced in 06, Amsoil, all maintain per factory requirements, current miles 71,000.Factory replaced the engine at 14,000 miles. I bought it right after the new engine was replaced. I do have the paper work to verify it was done. They did not repair the engine, it was a NEW engine from the factory. The serial number is matching for the bike.
It has the beauty rings around the head light and the spot lights; Rear taillight is a Kuryakyn with turn signals in stoplight. Color matching air cleaner with K&N filter. Windscreen replaced in 06,

I have run into people w/o perspective driving 911s, as a matter fact that is how I found out about this board. Find it kind of ironic that 911 drivers would criticize the high speed dynamic control skills of fixed wing aviators who recently flew LL NVG ops in combat. While conceding not having the 911 experience being criticized for never having done anything as demanding, maybe.

Never looked down on any of them. Currently own two Harleys (Night Train and V-Rod), no HD clothes, etc. Ride with BMW, Harley, Triumph Triple (nice bike), Victory, Big Dog, and Iron Horse guys.

No kidding. The Big Bad Iron Ass Horse Dog phenomena is about the worst thing that has happened to motorcycling in my lifetime. Now every Walter Mitty can can buy a turn-key bad ass chopper and feel cool. Flames and skulls are required decoration on the bike, and lame smart ass "biker" tee shirts on the riders. They have to learn to cuss and throw wrenches in the garage, too, even if they never learn how to turn them.

Hey, I have been adding flames & skulls to my rides since my 1st Schwinn Sting-Ray!!!! Don't put down flames & skulls!!

Oh geez. If you must get a cruiser, at least get something that doesn't suck.

Let’s see both Big Dog and Iron Horse have really good prices for the active duty, w/in 10% or less of a new HD. With resale it’s a better deal. Posers? I must have missed the fringe leather, boutique riding gear, etc. I bought my V-Rod w/o ever seeing new from the overseas sales program for $15,300.00 delivered, figured it was a good money proposition even if I didn’t like the bike.

Required decorations? I was under the impression that the bikes were selected from what was in stock and what kind of deal could be struck.

Fog, I didn't mention resale price or purchase, nor would I know about their active duty programs. I also happen to like the V-rods, I think they are cool, and were a good direction for HD to go. Unfortunately it didn't fit the bill of being a comfortable long distance cruiser, or I might have had one.

I have some firends that ride choppers (Big Dog and an Iron Horse), and they are uncomfortable bastards that only go straight. You show me someone that will ride one of those 500 miles in a day, and thats one bad a$$ I won't mess with, since not only are they tough, but also somewhat crazy.

I was only adressing your comments about posers, etc. I hear you on the boutique riding gear.

But damn, I feel like I belong when I slide on my HD whitey tighties, HD jeans, HD socks, HD boots, HD T-shirt. I better not forget my HD watch, HD wallet, etc.

For the record I wear boxers, so I guess I don't get to fit into the boutique riding gear.
