I absoulutely agree which is why I make sure to state "retail". You will never find a dealer that will pay you retail, more like 50% retail. They need to eat too. However, like all valuables, if it's worth insuring, it should be insured at the retail/replacement value.

My Grand Father collected Pennies, and I have his colection. He also collected a lot ofother coins. Due to personal reasons I won't sell them, but I still think its cool.

I have 2 complete sets of the 50 state Quarters going right now. I haven't cheated and bought any of them. My folks live in Virginia, so when I go back, I go through the change that they keep to find all the "P" minted ones. I really like it, and so my daughter, we have a good time going through them looking for the ones I need.

Whats a "P" minted coin?

Are you referring to coins minted in Philadelphia? Normally coins with no mint mark are from that town.

For Quarters "P" stands for Philly, "D" for Denver, so the "D" stamped ones are pretty easy for me to find.

As far as collectible coins go i have a 2000 Silver Dollar that I recieved for a birthday once that I will never part with, and I also have a folder of 29 centenial quaters from my grandpa. Both are very special to me and I have no idea what the value are for either peices.

I have a huge bag of Indian head pennies. Are they worth anything?

HarryD - The Indian head pennies ran from 1859 through 1909. Most of the 1879 to 1909 are worth a dollar to a couple dollars each. 1859 through 1878 can be worth more, some a lot more.

Mintage on the 1877 was 852,000 compared to 14,000,000 in 1909. Note: The 1908S and 1909S (S=San Francisco Mint) are worth some bucks as well. The "S" mint mark will be located at 6 o'clock on the reverse under the wreath.

BRPORSCHE - The 2000 silver dollar is referred to as an "American Eagle". Looks to be worth $20 to $30.

If by Centenial quarters, you mean the 1976 quarter, values show 50 cents each and that would have to be in pretty good condition. These are great to collect because it's still possible to find them in pocket change. However, with over 1.6 BILLION made between Denver and Phili, they will never be "rare".
