In America, they would have done a financial analysis, weighing the cost savings of the lead based paint vs the lawsuits due to children sickness.:(

How true. Shades of FoMoCo's Bronco and Firestone tires a few years ago or Pinto gas tanks a few years further back.

This is all driven by US companies / Walmart's desires for the cheapest goods possible, regardless of corners cut to make it so. There is no quality control because that adds a few cents to the bottom line, regulation costs money, blah, blah, blah.....................
