Price Check: 50 cal black powder
I have a Charles Daly 50 caliber black powder Hawken rifle that I really never use. It has made in Italy on the barrel and what looks like a walnut stock with brass fittings, double trigger, adjustable rear sight and is in perfect, like new condition.
It was a gift and I don't know the original cost and have not had any luck pricing new, used or old ones. I'm thinking a couple hundred, but really have no idea. Thanks,

Muzzleloader season is about to start down south here, so kits, etc. will be cheap and plentiful.
I'd do a search on gunbroker.com for completed auctions, then flip it to highest number of bids. That will show you (maybe) real value. If you are looking to sell, and don't have a number in mind, put it up on gunbroker.com and start it at $50+shipping with no reserve, start it just after dinner time on a Thursday nite and let it run for 10 days.

Gunbroker will give you a descent estimate. "Made in Italy" does not help and a lot depends on the maker, whoever it was.

Age and manufacturer are important on the Italian guns. Some of them have made huge strides in quality in the last decade. If it is relatively new, and made by Pedersoli, for example, it may be worth a couple hundred. That's at the high end. Rifles from the other Italian manufacturers, and older Pedersolis, are worth virtually nothing. Some are not even safe to shoot.
Lyman imports Italian rifles, but for the life of me, I can't remember who makes them. It's not Pedersoli. It's the "other" competent Italian manufacturer of replica arms. If some one can come up with a name, that would give you the two that are actually worth anything. If it's anything other than one of these two, I would pound it into the ground and grow roses up around it, or use the barrel as a jack handle, or...

I doubt it has double triggers unless it's a double rifle. Most likely a set trigger. I think $200 is about right. Now if it's a double rifle...PM me.

I found the exact model made by Investarm for Cabela's, where mine was made for Charles Daly by them. This one went for $249.00 used http://www.trackofthewolf.com/(S(yl44i545ajz3vd34d1lyrz45))/categories/partDetail.aspx?catId=12&subId=83&styleId=290&partNum=AAE-140 and mine is in much better shape I think. So I guess I'll be shopping this thing around. ![]()
