Seen any good, recent movies that didn't get much press?
What good movies have you seen that might go unnoticed at the video store?
I just saw Breach about the FBI agent who sold classified info to the Russians... very well done.

Caught the movie "The Lords of Dogtown" a few weeks back. It's the story of the birth of competetion skateboarding. The subject matter may sound kinda weak, but it was a really good movie. Based upon true events.

Randy, check out "Dogtown and Z-Boys," the documentary that preceded the Hollywood version. Excellent. Stacy Peralta apparently wrote both films.

Check out I Am David, Transamerica, MirrorMask, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Apocalypto.
Foreign films are usually under the radar. Some I've enjoyed recently include The Barbarian Invasions, Monsieur Ibrahim, After the Wedding, The Curse of the Golden Flower, The Inheritance, Volver, Downfall.

CHILDREN OF MEN was very good. Although I can't say it flew under the radar, CASINO ROYALE might very well be the best Bond movie period.
I can also tell you that "300" was WAYYY over-rated.

That didn't get much press? I thought it did. Oh well. I really like this movie "man on a train" it's French. Homme du train, L' (2002) Jean Rochefort ... Monsieur Manesquier Johnny Hallyday ... Milan "At a deserted train station, a teacher and a gangster meet and realize that each might have been better suited to the other man's way of life. As a friendship of sorts develops between these opposite personalities, each starts to envy the other and by the week's end, everything will change for both of them. Written by Sujit R. Varma Notorious criminal Milan (Hallyday) is sent to a small French town to knock off the local bank. With plans to make and no place to stay, he accepts a retired schoolteacher's (Rochefort) offer of shelter. Quickly they find that their lives might have turned out better if they were in one another's shoes,. Written by Anonymous

Long Way Round. Not a movie but a mini series that was on UK tv. Very funny and great scenery/adventures along their motorcycle trip around the world. If you can't find it at your local video store try the library.
From IMDB "This documentary series follows actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on a motorcycle trip around the world. The two friends will travel through such places as Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Alaska, before finally ending the journey in New York. The filming will be done by on board cameras and one ride along cameraman."

We did not like 300, and The Wife has a HUGE crush on Mr. Butler!!!! Less than 15 min into the movie and it was outta there!
Deja Vu, Last King of Scotland, but we just haven't seen too many recent movies! Soccer movie: The Miracle Match, based upon a true story!
