Thumbs down Don't let people drive your cars!

Guy lets girl drive his Shelby Cobra. Doesn't end well. At least it's a replica.

Now WHO was more stupid? Him for letting her drive, or her for planting the boot into it?

I have NEVER let anyone drive my cars (3 exceptions - all more than qualified in my book). Even at sprint meetings or on drive days...they can drive their own. I'm manic about things like nicking gears etc - I know how much mechanical empathy I have.

This; coming from a female too .

How ****** stupid can you be?

It has nothing to do with male or female. Letting am inexperienced person drive a car with that much power on the public roads. Damn lucky someone did not get killed.

Why the hell they continued to let her drive when she obviously demonstrated that she couldn't even back it up out of a parking space properly is beyond me. They got what they asked for.

I was scared spitless just watching her get to the road, I'd of asked for the keys back long before that happened... I also NEVER let anyone drive my car solo, I'm always right there inside to keep them from doing something stupid.

Looks like the road was damp too? Not a good idea to stomp on it in any high powered car.

I know someone who built a Cobra. He drove it once. Scared him so much he sold it without ever driving it a second time. Maybe it was a a wise decision.

Listen to Bill Cosby's "200 MPH" album...made back in the 60's, but now available on CD...

This story came up at work today and one of my co-workers who's building a Cobra kit car said this happened in Houston. And who'd have guessed... at an ice house (a bar).
