In other news.... the Chicago Bears announced that Lance Briggs will be going on inured reserve for unspecified injuries that occurred during "practice".

I couldn't figure out what you were saying.
Isn't it (sp) Deiter?

Why would someone on a diet steal a car?

I'm corn-fuzed...

Dem Jurrmin names is funny.

Recall that when the Gizmondo guy crashed his Enzo, he blamed it on someone named Deiter or Dieter...

Actually, having worked for a Dieter, I had to learn how to spell it. He has it right.

Mystery solved. And I was worried there was some sick man out there that takes people for rides in their exotics, crashes them, and flees the accident scene leaving the poor owner holding the bag...

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- His new black Lamborghini careered into a light pole and a concrete bridge support in the middle of the night, and police say Lance Briggs left it there. Now he faces a misdemeanor charge, but the outcome could have been much worse.
...
Briggs was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor, after crashing his Lamborghini Murcielago and abandoning it alongside Interstate Highway 94 around 3:15 a.m., Illinois State Police said Monday.

After meeting with police Monday afternoon, Briggs was also given traffic citations for failure to give immediate notice of an accident and improper lane usage, said Master Sgt. Luis Gutierrez.
...
No one was in the car with Briggs and no other vehicles were involved, Gutierrez said.

Even with the misdemeanor charge, it sounds like our friend Lance Briggs probably saved himself a felony DUI charge.

So I guess the lesson here is if you ever have a one-car accident and you've been drinking - ditch - right?

I'll never understand our legal system.

To be fair, I'm sure NO ONE on this BBS has ever crashed a high-performance vehicle while sober.

If he had crashed his Ford Taurus in a single-vehicle accident, then I'd be inclined to say: "yes, he was probably drinking". Considering it was a Lamborghini, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he got in over his head while driving.

But yes, he may have also been drinking.

Then why run? Why leave a $200,000 car (or even a wrecked $200,000 car) on the roadside where anyone can have their way with it?

Seems pretty stupid to me - unless someone has something to hide.

Sure, someone here has crashed a high performance vehicle while sober. But they probably didn't run away from the scene and hide. The odds are that a person doing that is avoiding going to jail for something, either DUI or warrant or whatever.
People just don't leave the scene of an accident like that unless they are running away from something. this guy was drunk or high and got away with it.
