Hard to watch and even harder to read:

What is She Talking About?

Question: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the United States on a world map. Why do you think this is?

Miss Teen South Carolina: "I personally believe the U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh...people out there in our nation don't have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and...I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., err, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our...

Editor's note: It was painful typing this dialogue.

Truth is much stranger than fiction, no doubt.

Best,

Kurt

Wish she had the nuts to tell the truth and that is that one fifth all of Americans are dumber than stumps and don't care where US is located on a map.

Your point is well made, she is DUMB for being in the event and made to look worse than dumb with such stupid questions. I can't watch those things, it makes me truly uncomfortable and embarrassed for the individual, just have to turn it off. I couldn't even watch the entire clip.

Who cares, she'll marry well and age better than most. The world needs more dumb women. All the ones I seem to have anything to do with are far too smart!

Yep, there's only one thing she'll need a firm grasp on to do well and it's not geography

That question had very little to do with geography, in fact, it sounded like it was worded by a dumb blonde. IN fact, I think the question was dumber than the answer, theres a saying, ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

For example, in the end, it says "Why is this", with a VERY ambiguous "this", why is it a recent poll? Why did they find this statistic, why is this statistic true? It leaves what I'm trying to find out about the statement prior VERY unclear.

Then, notice it mentions the people group polled as American, and the country they had to find as the United States. There are two American continents, and the country it is asked in is named after America. By referring to the geographical area by a country name, it inclines me to believe that the people group mentioned comprises the American continents, not the country of the United States. Or it could be the other way around...with the people group being those of the United States, even then, its ambiguous about what age range was polled, or even if the poll was localized. (For example, 80% of American's in South Carolina)

I would of done terrible with this question to.

I understood the question - my answer would have been that our education system is hurting and parents need to step up and get more involved in raising and educating their kids!

That poor girl looked nervous and may suffer from being a less than sharp tool. Not sure I would blame the question for her response.

Best,

Kurt

With those looks, conversation would not be a priority of mine anyway. It looks like a strict 'hit 'n come' project. But what a hit!

Like my brother-in-law the horseman likes to say (in his case, he's refering to his horses) "if they were any smarter we wouldn't be ridin' 'em".

Strangelove:

Well, that would not be necessary Mr. President. It could easily be accomplished with a computer. And a computer could be set and programmed to accept factors from youth, health, sexual fertility, intelligence, and a cross section of necessary skills. Of course it would be absolutely vital that our top government and military men be included to foster and impart the required principles of leadership and tradition. Slams down left fist. Right arm rises in stiff Nazi salute. Arrrrr! Restrains right arm with left. Naturally, they would breed prodigiously, eh? There would be much time, and little to do. But ah with the proper breeding techniques and a ratio of say, ten females to each male, I would guess that they could then work their way back to the present gross national product within say, twenty years.

Muffley:

But look here doctor, wouldn't this nucleus of survivors be so grief stricken and anguished that they'd, well, envy the dead and not want to go on living?

Strangelove:

No sir... Right arm rolls his wheelchair backwards. Excuse me. Struggles with wayward right arm, ultimately subduing it with a beating from his left.

Also when... when they go down into the mine everyone would still be alive. There would be no shocking memories, and the prevailing emotion will be one of nostalgia for those left behind, combined with a spirit of bold curiosity for the adventure ahead! Ahhhh! Right are reflexes into Nazi salute. He pulls it back into his lap and beats it again. Gloved hand attempts to strangle him.

Turgidson:

Doctor, you mentioned the ration of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?

Strangelove:

Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.

DeSadeski:

I must confess, you have an astonishingly good idea there, Doctor.

Strangelove:

Thank you, sir.
