Talking Currently Diving in Honduras Central America

Thought I'd check some email and send ya'll some photos from scuba diving in Central America Honduras.

Staying at a really killer resort called Cocoview resort, on the island of Roatan Honduras. 90-95 surface temps and water is 82-84, nice.............

Been diving as deep as 100 foot on Nitrox, seeing refridgerator sized barrel sponges, 5 foot baracudas, and tons of fishes and other small macro sea life.

Here's a few photos of whats to be seen deeper than snorkle depth for you land lubbers full of couch blubber.

Enjoy!

I've never scuba dived in my life, but I'm going to spend a week in Belize early next year. I need to get certified.

You can not, must not, WILL NOT go to Belize without diving the Blue Hole.

You are not helping at all! Been several years since I strapped some tanks on my back and got wet. I learned back in the old "dual hose" Sea Hunt style regulator days and really miss it.

If you want to see something very nice, try to get to the Red Sea. Very nice diving and vis up to 300 feet.

If you happen to make it over to La Ceiba, find a bar called Expatriates (Expats for short) and tell the owner, Joe, that Gavin says hi He's a kick ass dude and will show you a good time.

I'm so, so jealous of you..I've been trying to get to Honduras for about 3 years now. One of these days.

More pictures!!

I've done Belize three times, and while the Blue hole is "a dive" I wouldn't rank it even in my top 50.........you go to 130 foot (I did 149 on air - grins) for only 5-7 minutes bottom time, then you have to come back up, all to see a couple of huge rock formations. Most all divers say they'd never do it again after the first time. MANY other good dives in Belize outer atolls. I've got some killer cool in-land adventure in jungle belize and myan ruins, so PM me and I'll send you some links later.

Do a google search on "IAN ANDERSON CAVES BRANCH BELIZE". We've also stayed out on Ambergris Caye, and south of Belize city is a neat small fishing village called Hopkins.......do a seach on Hamanasi resort.............

AND DEFINATELY GET CERTIFIED FOR SCUBA!!!!!!!!! before you go to belize.

more pictures to follow, got to shrink them down and resize them from the 4-5 meg pixel raw images, and I'm too drunk and tired in a bar..........burp!

I MISS MY 911.........sniff sniff.........

You can't beat Cocoview resort for cheap diving and KILLER awesome wall dives in Roatan.

www.cocoviewresort.com

$900 for 7 nights in an over the water cabana, 3 huge meals a day, and unlimited diving. 4 boat dives a day, and shore diving all you want with an awesome house reef. Sheet, that's only about $130 a day per person!

I've been diving for awhile. Granted Roatan and Belize can be great especially if you hook up with a local. I think Roatan had a dive called "Mary's" or "Mary's Cut" that's great.

i once saw a "'cuda" dart about 90' to feed and return to its perch on a shelf in the blink of an eye.

fwiw.. i use black wet suit glue to cover mask, flipper, regulator etc chrome to not attract a 'cuda hit. After diving w/a guy who had his 1st stage hit like a hammer it's one of my must do's.

Chris and I would like to go for a little drive this weekend. Since his little red SC is currently, um, "incapacitated", we kinda figure any old red SC will do. Where did you leave the keys? It's not good to let them sit...

I'm shooting with a Olympus SP-350 digital compact that gives you manual shutter speed and f-stop control, Ikelite housing, and Ikelite DS-125 strobe, INON wide angle lens help fit the lung fish into the frame.
