Fred Thompson throws his hat in the ring!
Dear Friends,
On September 6, 2007, Fred Thompson will be announcing his intention to run for President of the United States with a webcast available to millions at www.imwithfred.com. The launch of the video will be followed by a five-day campaign tour through Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. On the evening of the 6th, there will also be a National House Party, during which there will be a conference call with Fred. We enter this campaign in a strong position. Fred is consistently near the top in the polls, and conservatives across the country have put together the closest thing to a draft in recent presidential campaign history in an effort to bring about this day. The next few weeks will only serve to build upon those efforts, with house parties, visits to the early primary states, and a homecoming in Lawrenceburg, TN on the 15th. To view the dates and locations of Fred's bus tour, please click here, and check back soon for more information on attending one of these events. By announcing via webcast, Fred is able to take his consistently mainstream conservative message directly to the voters, who are already responding to that message with a strong upwelling of grassroots support. The webcast and the following campaign tour will play to Fred™s strengths, a consistent record of conservatism, his ability to clearly spread his message, and his ability to work with and connect with Americans from all walks of life. Be apart of this historic occasion by signing up to host or attend a house party today. Sincerely, Bill Lacy Manager, Friends of Fred Thompson, Inc.

Bob,
Agree completely. Hey, you going to be in Tucson tomorrow? Anywhere near the airport? Going to be delivering a new airplane there tomorrow afternoon... Joe

I love it! You see, the whole thrust of the Democrat campaign so far has been to campaign against Bush. They haven't figured out that come November of '08, nobody will be voting for Bush...they will be voting for whoever the G.O.P. candidate is...
At this point in time, Fred Thompson looks good to me. I'm sure I'm not alone...

While I love Fred, his campaign so far has been a fiasco. His entire staff has been reshuffled at least twice in the last 6 wks. His wife has a lot to do with this. I'm worried when things are this disorganized before they even kick off. I have some friends on the inside there and they say the only way he'll get off the ground is by hitting a home run in the first debate he's in. If not, so long.

i've read that Fred may somewhat neutralize Romney.
i don't know enough to comment on that other that politics can be more complicated that what voters understand.

if i take my past reply further i could also say that the far right knows what their getting w/Rudy. Governors and Mayors have to be managers imo. Rudy has a management history of success. Even the lib Time Mag placed him on their cover as man of the year. . He's promised them nomination of strict constitutionists to the Supreme Court ++. A congressional pol has a different mind set for success.
The'ar a wild card to the far right imo. Fred is a far right mole to ensure Rudy's the next President.

14 posts, and no Shaun?! Get on the ball buddy!
![]() Everything Fred has announced has sounded good to me, we'll have to see how things progress. Despite what Shaun says, I am yet to see evidence of a true flip-flop in his past. I like Rudy, and it's tough to doubt his leadership ability. However, I don't like the fact that he is attempting to position himself as a conservative candidate, while his views on many issues tend towards the left. Or perhaps I should say, used to tend towards the left? His campaign is attempting to position him solidly as a conservative, but I think his past might come back to haunt him.

![]() I try. Honestly, I'm tired of the Fred "Emperor with no Clothes makes a batch of Stone Soup" thing. Fred is simply not a leader and that will become abundantly clear soon. I have faith in Mitt and Rudy to carry my torch from here on out. ![]()

2- he happened to be present during the tragedy that took place September of that year. Neither of those things make him a better candidate.
