Moses sez "Jobs is brilliant." (giving back 50M) and implies Gates is a crook. Well obviously they both take MUCH more than they need, for their corp's to flourish. It's just silly to think any of this giving back is "brilliant." Yet here are the zealots with 'thank you sir-Jobs, may I have another. You are the BEST!'http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/pukey.gif |
If you don't understand the difference between philanthropy and a corporation offering a "make good" on a commercial transaction...well, then we have bigger issues.
This is a customer service issue. Jobs made a decision, the customers got pissed, he responded. All business. To bring in mention of a philanthropic entity is specious. |

get over it, nostatic.
Apple should have released the phone at a lower price rather than going for another media stunt whoring for attention. Either way it seems that most don't really care that the phone came down in price. Sorry that you payed 200.00 more than you should have but I guess thats just the price of doing business with Apple |
Are you trying to tell me Jobs and Gates are in it for the money?
Say it ain't so! What happened to the sweet little nerds working out of there garage trying to make the world a better place? |

Price reductions in technology happen ALL THE TIME. (Usually right after I buy something.) I never had a technology company offer me a store credit so I would feel better about my untimely purchase. This was a good move. Apple will be fine. |

Have you seen me complain about the price drop? No. I said I knew it was going to happen and that is the lot of an early adopter. But some here love to take the piss out of Apple even when they try and correct a misstep. I'm sure that Jobs will take your business advice to heart though about pricing structures and how to generate buzz. You might want to invoice him for it... I'll go call my therapist now ;) |

The reaction was a good move, yes...but it is a net negative. The idea that he made any lemonade from lemons here is something I can't buy. And yes, Apple will be fine in that I agree. But I do wonder if they just overestimated the sticker-blind loyals or what. |

Guess some of us are just sick of hearing lame ass **** about your ghay ass phone bro. I am not mad at Apple its apples provider I dislike. so you call people "haters" and what not if they dont like Apple or the iphone and yeah I do think thats a little clinical but whatever. The source is a non iphone / apple user. And for some reason that bothers U. |
You guys are really johnny-come-lately's to Apple.
they've been pulling this crap since the 512 came out late in 85. Apple will be fine. They'll get lots of + liberal media press saying how great Apple is and people will forget about it in, oh, how's lunch next Wednesday sound to you? People buy Apple because the products resonate on multiple levels with them, rather than fight with you. People like that. This is a blunder, sure, but it's not going to make anyone think differently about Apple's products themselves. |

Who held a gun to your head? You were more than happy to buy one the first few days. That you had issues with it after the fact is irrelevant. |
How many posters on this thread bought an iphone (kept it, like it, wayne) and are pissed about it?
|
Nah, they're not bothered that they nolonger have thee pricey phone.
Just like 911 (996) owners had no problem when their cars were mistaken for Boxsters. Early Apple adopters want nothing to do with showy pretence. They all bought the device for the functionallity. :D |
Think of all those footballers and hip-hoppers who bought 42" plasmas in 2002 for $30,000. They're not crying in their pimp cups about all the money they wasted.
If you bought an iPhone for $600, you KNEW that it would be half the price a few short months later. YOU KNEW. The extra $200 is the price of admission for being FIRST and being COOL. Don't worry about it. You were totally cool. Just for a shorter amount of time this time. |
Some of you folks are really silly. If you think the iPhone price increase/refund is so critical to AAPL then short the stock or buy some puts, make some money on this "historical" blunder!
I continue to find great amusement in the folks who are so bothered by Apple! It's bizarre, much more bizarre than the folks who find Apple products compelling. Best, Kurt |
Wow.
Who benefits from all this discussion about Apple? Apple. How did a ringtone become a necessity? How could anyone assume that a copyrighted, DRM-ed song would be free to use from a company that sells copyrighted DRM-ed songs? It all seems very irrational to me... |
Many stores give 30 Day Price Guarantee. Not 10 days. ... Not "in-store credit" (for 50% of the difference.) But Full, "Here's your cash back."
For example; If you buy that 42" plasma at say Costco, and the price drops a couple hundred (as expected) w/in the 30days, they give you the difference. Those claiming Emperor Jobs some how pulled a rabbit out of his hat while wearing a groovy robe (w/ that in-store 50%) must not know about these other standard retail practices. |
Even though $200 isn't that much to brood over, not being an early-adopter sucker because I thought the iPhone's price was ridiculous, is priceless.
