T.O. Attended "cultural" dog fights

That silver tongued devil Terrell Owens told the Dallas Morning news that he attended dog fights as they were part of the culture he grew up in.

"When I mentioned cultural thing, [it's] just like when people go out and they hunt deer," he said. "They hunt deer and they cut their heads off and they go to mount them on the wall. And they are animals as well. I don't see a big difference in the situation.

TO, TO, TO. What a shame these men are multi-millionaire role models.

Professional athletes should never be considered role models. Ever.

It's never too early in the season to draw attention to yourself by saying stupid things.

Spot on as usual. Say like if I as a human had to rank the value of let's say YOU, against the value of say, the dog in my avatar, based on superior intelligence I have to go with THE DOG!

Kidding, right?

Dogs are domesticated pets. Deer are game. Deer hunters presumably hunt deer for food.

If a deer hunter goes to a petting zoo and drowns, electrocutes or otherwise tortures deer, there will be outrage.

c'mon Mule, answer the question. with a little intelligence, I know you can. do you place higher value on 1 dog's life than on 1 deer's life because one makes a good pet, and the other is fun to hunt and murder in the woods?
this requires some deep philosophical thought, so don't reply too fast . think before you type

From the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about T.O. watching poodles fight.

It depends on the dog, and the deer. For example, if the dog is a Dachshound and the deer is a Mulie that can scratch his nuts with his antlers, then the deer is more special than the dog. And looks better mounted on the wall.

I hope that on ramp is prepared to take this logic to the end here, meaning I hope you are a vegan, because who are you to put higher value on a dogs or a deers life than a cows or a fish or a chicken or a pig or a turkey or even a poor defenseless tomato.

Maybe you should be a fruitarian...you know like from the movie Notting Hill. Someone who only eats things that have fallen naturally to the ground since picking fruits and vegetables off of plants may cause them pain.

There you go, trying to make On Ramp look like some crazy liberal extremist. Well, at least on the Pelican board you are the majority.

If you look at how they treat those dogs, obviously they are not pets, and are not "domesticated" in the true sense of the word.

And as I bring this up, I still don't think either are "right", whatever right means.

And while we are at it, yes, I think water-boarding is torture.

there's a difference between a clean kill for food (a gun shot wound) and cheering as you watch dogs tear each other apart. Especially when the dogs are manipulated by people to do it. Granted, dogs in the wild are killers too, but there's a difference between wild dogs doing what dogs do and people molding dogs into killers for entertainment.

What deer hunter drowns, electrocutes, hangs or shoots point blank in the face his or her prey? Oh, I guess it's those deer hunters who don't believe the deer put up a strong enough fight.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. Look, I'm a stinkin' liberal Democrat to most of you and even though I don't and won't have a gun and do not hunt, I have no problem with a hunter hunting deer legally, assuming of course they hunt them mercifully - NOT hanging them, drowning them, electrocuting them, etc.

There is no excuse for making dogs fight and killing dogs like Vick and his cronies did. "Culture" etc is a complete bull$hit excuse and anyone that doesnt inherently "get" that is getting pretty close to being as bad as the person making that kind of lame excuse.

We now return you to your regualrly schedule program.........

Don't we have the electric chair for cap. punishment in some states because it's considered humane? Sure looks brutal to me.
