Looking for a good light beer

Good light beer - is there such a thing?

I have been trying to switch to light beer to shave a few calories while drinking on the weekends.

Anyone try one they like. I tend to like the American style Lagers. Been a Bud drinker since college. I enjoy a nice Ale from time to time but always go back to watered down US style beers.

Can't stand Budlight.
Have tried Natural light, Mil Best light, Miller light, Busch light, Mich Ultra and Light - not real happy with any of them.

Becks light. The only decent one.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Cyclone lager at my local Rock Bottom isn't too bad. A bit weak, but easy to drink and tastes okay.

Blue Moon is the lightest beer I drink...

Try Yuengling Light? I am a fan of the Porter.

Just drink Guinness and don't eat.

In all seriousness I have never found a light beer that maintains flavor. With most of them you might as well have a glass of water. Then again I am more into ale than lager so my tastes are somewhat skewed. I might have to do some research though. The Becks sounds promising and everything else they make is pretty good. I even had one of their NA low alcohol beers once and it was pretty decent. I don't recall exactly why, but the circumstances were probably pretty desperate so please don't hold that against me.

Mexican beers are pretty light, at least in taste and how they don't swell in your belly.

I like Sol the best.

That was the philosophy when I was much younger. One of my more observant room mates noted the was a "sandwich in every bottle".

I also like Sol, but it's never in bars here. I'm sure it's just cheap Mexican beer, but I like what I like:D

A local store "The Wine Castle" where I pick up some tequila & bourbon twice a year sells it. I think I saw it at Busch's grocery store once.

Amstel light is pretty good, but lately, vodka and "diet" Coke is more to my liking :D

I've never bought a 12 pack of sandwiches, nor could I eat that many if I did :)

ps: I don't drink that many beers either (anymore)...
pps: There is no such thing as a "good" light beer, the search is over!

I like Sol too. Better taste than Corona. Yuengling is my fave. Regular and Light

Sam Adams light isn't that bad for a light beer. It has some taste and isn't that watered down - for a light beer

I prefer Marathon at the Belmont brewery. :D

But it is not likely available in bottles.

Sam Adams makes a light... haven't tried it.

You know what the rest of the world says "American beer is like making love in a canoe... f**king close to water"

VINMAN 09-14-2007 07:19 AM

Then again, I have aquired a taste for my "Jersey Swampland" homebrew. My first batch was horrible. But Ive gotten better....

Tobra 09-14-2007 07:27 AM

Sam Adams

Amstel

That pretty much covers it for me and light beer.
