Well, the decision has come down, and it ain't good for Floyd.

More dopes ...doping? *Yawn*
Why bother to test ANY sports figure anymore? Let them use ANY thing they want. The record books are becoming a fantasy land anyway. Turn it all loose....and may the best drug addict win! What doesn't kill you makes you STRONGER!!! ![]()

However, in Landis' case, the system actually worked. He was dirty, was caught, proven guilty, and now he can't race again until 2009. He'll be too old for the sport at that time, and should think about another career.

What we need is a handicapping system for each sport to allow a level playing field and let the dopers in legitimately. Hey, it is already a fact in some sports, like MLB. So maybe a doper with 25 home runs would get credit for 80%, or 20 HRs in the records, based on historic steroid use. And maybe Floyd deserves a 2nd or 3rd, but not disqual. and disgrace.

Fkin French. What do you expect?
They tried for years to get Armstrong - and couldn't, so they stick it to Landis. Predictable. Hate to break it to 'em but synthetic testosterone - even if he DID take it (which I suspect he didn't) does NOTHING to enhance performance.

Ummm....then why do it? Perhaps he should have consulted you before risking his title and losing it over a placebo. I'm thinking there's more to the story.

synthetic testosterone will help in muscle recovery if used in advance, but overnight? I'm doubting it. However consider the errors made in the laboratroy, the suspect chain of custody of the sample and poor test equipment set-up and i say you have enough to toss out the positive result. Even the ruling panel stated that the lab screwed up. Landis got corn holed by the french.

I still don't believe this. This is either a mistake or a setup. Having an American win that damn race again after Armstrong had owned it for so long had to have been unbearable for the French.

I remember the Sydney Olympics when they kept the ability to test for certain drugs secret till the last minute. When they announced it, the entire Chinese swimming team withdrew. The timing was deliberately done to flush out cheats when it was too late to mask it.
Nothing good comes from cheating - so we should never embrace it nor just give in to them. Tim |

The question is...
Does he go back and prove like a true American that he was wronged, and kick ass. or. Just give up, because it's corrupt and what's the point.

The guy was caught doping. He happened to be American. Get over it.

TDF is impossibly difficult to just finish. ALL pro cyclists are doping. So are most NFL, MLB, NBA, etc... athletes. With contracts worth the big $$ today folks would be insane not to.

Wow...do you have any proof of that, RE cycling? If not....

Historically, there has always been some sort of doping in the TdF. Back in the 1920s, riders were taking arsenic - for exactly what, I have no idea.

If I did I would be rich...
Of course it's my opinion but I raced bicycles for a several+ years and can somewhat understand how difficult a 3 week stage race like the TDF would be. Pro cyclists are some of the best conditioned athletes in the world but the human body has limitations on recovery - especially over 3 weeks. FWIW... |

I find you (universally speaking) can ride hard for three consecutive days, but on the forth day, the body just won't work at the same pace.
Now imagine three weeks with only one rest day...
