freaky. I suspect that somewhere one of the kids was preyed upon by a predator, probably a family member. I just don't see that sort of behavior being normal under most other circumstances.

Yuck, I feel sick. I cannot imagine what the 7 year old's parents are feeling, I'd want to kill those kids and their parents.

Wow, being a parent this just makes me ill.
I don't know how the parents of the victimized child can refrain from taking this situation in to their own hands. They deserve alot of credit.

Strange, but craving for intimacy or trying in his mind to pass on the experience as a way of dealing with it, sharing the horror with the person closest to him - who knows how twisted this can be or how rational?

I feel sorry for the young perps. I want to shoot the parents and have them serve time for the crime the kids committed.

The parents probably sexually abused the children and/or otherwise abused them. That is the only way kids that young learn behaviors like that. The kids re-enacted the abuse upon the other child. This is a coping mechanism for children to attempt to make sense of the abuse that they have received.

I rarely say its the parents' fault. In this case, the parents probably do not love the boys, and most likely sexually abused them.

Not so sure that anything goes. With our ability to share information and publish just about everything and anything that happens and have it spread to a zillion people at once, tolerence of these secrets are becoming a thing of the past.

I know first hand of many people of older generations that were abused - physically, sexually and emotionally and in pretty much all the cases the acts were brushed aside and not talked about. That is not the case today.

Take it a step further and consider all the murders and rapes that occured many many years ago. The conviction rate was very low if they were ever reported. Per capita violent crime is at an all time low. You hear about the crap like the stuff above now but years ago you never would have.

I have to disagree with you on this one on-ramp, I think we are a much more concerned society than we ever have been.

The kids could also have suffered abuse at the hands of an uncle, an aunt, a priest, a rabbi, a teacher, a mailman, a babysitter...

I agree that for kids this young, behavior like that is learned. They got it from somewhere. The parents aren't the only possible source though, that's for sure.

The amount of data here is totally insufficient. No matter what, its a sad story.

I think we assume this must be the case because the alternative is pretty horrible to contemplate: That these two were born predators. A frightening (but definite) possibility.

Ever read much about Jeff Dahmer? Seems to have had a very normal, middle class typical American upbringing. In many ways, he was the prototypical American boy....except he liked/needed to kill things and save their bones. Later to be improved upon by killing PEOPLE and saving their parts..as trophies...and later to eat their parts. That guy said OF HIMSELF that he was a monster and he would likely do it again if released. May or may not apply to these two but I do believe there are such things as human monsters in our midst.

Interesting note on Dahmer-

Apparently, as a young kid he had an operation of some kind where he had to get general anesthesia. The idea of being put out petrified him, and he kept voicing concerns about the doctors having access to his private parts prior to the operation. It was just a snippet of his childhood that some think MAY have led to some of his disturbing behavior.

Ramm,
I have seen that TV interview of Dahmer and his dad a couple of times and it is chilling. The scariest part for me is that guy was in many, many ways as normal as could be. He could have easily "passed" as normal in most settings. He was a normal looking, even attractive looking guy who spoke well, had ordinary hygene, etc. In short, not a thing that could clue you to be wary.

I think it is that normality that chills me the most. He's no cartoon character monster......just a real life monster. So that means to me there may be LOTS of his type quietly moving among us. Chilling.

Yeah- that interview was seriously creepy. Killers can come in all forms- you having the raving lunatic dirty scoundrels, and you go all the way to the mother of the year types that drown their kids.

What scares me about it is that it seems the 'edge of sanity' is a lot closer than I care to think about.
