Tabdullas Oink Out Diet

This is what I set out to post today, before I got side tracked by current events.

Anway Tabdullas Oink Out diet is progressing nicely. He has now lost 50 lbs and still hits the Buffet Tables, sometimes 3 times a week.

Learning how to "eat to live" rather than "live to eat", huh?

Good for you. Some of your physical ailments may disappear.

tabs, what is your height and weight now? waist size? are you exercising or walking regularly? it certainly helps to get your metabolism up and a great lifestyle choice. keep up the good work and enjoy the process..the journey, not the destination.

I exercise once or twice a day lifting my fork from the plate to my mouth. Funny my height is shrinking and my waist is increasing....No.... 6'5"...and now 298 @...the @ depends whether its before or after the morning sojorn and utterence of prayers on the porcelin throne of God.

My waist was a semi-loose 48" with 50 off its somewhere around 44". With my size I'm able to hide alot of weight without looking like a Graf Zepplin.

OR instead of looking like I'm 9 months pregnant, now I look like I am 3 months....OK OK maybe 4 months.

my numbers are 6'2"and 230lbs.with 36"waist at 41 years. i used to powerlift for years and only recently quit competing due to joint issues catching up with me. most i weighed was 270 briefly with a 40"waist. i don't train folks anymore, but did for a while. i actually have a professional strength coaching certification, more used to working with team athletes. however, i'd think that a regular regimen of brisk walking (even to the buffet if you start from home and it takes a half hour or so each direction) would be great for your heart and turning up your metabolism. getting started is always the hardest part..helps to find a fellow partner in crime to walk/talk with. anyway, good for you..shaving off 6" from your waist is a great thing. you're a big man. are you shooting for 40" at the waist? seems like it wouldn't be that far outa line for your size. maybe shoot for 250-260 as a weight. i had a guy a little smaller than you start at 270 and get down to 230 by just brisk walking on the beach a half hour a day. he felt loads better..and enjoyed the time for meditation.

I've been planning on 260 to 270. That takes me back 17 years. I should be 40 to 42 at the waist. Before I moved to LV I used to walk and chase the ball at an Executive 9 hole Golf course 3 times a week. Believe me I got my moneys worth outa that game, I got to hit the ball LOTS and walk all over the place. I used to know every tree by its first name and they all cursed me at one time or another for hitting them. Anyway since I have moved to LV I havn't found a comparable course (lousy and cheap) and the summer time here is like opening yur oven door with the heat turned on full blast.

I used to ride a 14 Speed Araya Aero with Shimano AX (Aero Gruppo) back in the day. I would ride 10 miles a day or 3 15 milers a week with a 20 mile ride on my days off. That bike used to whisper in my ear faster, faster, faster Tabby....that is until I hit a parked car while peddling up hill. Funny thing about that is that I was so preoccupied with the feeling I was in danger that I actually wound up in danger.

checked out any area health clubs? or perhaps invest in a home treadmill. walking will get some of that weight off. walk at a pace where it's just difficult to talk and you're more or less at your target heart rate without doing fancy math. actually, first 15-20 minutes of aerobic-paced exercise isn't burning any fat and that's why you have to do at least 30-45 minutes per session to gain any fat-burning benefit. that first quarter hour is simply using up available blood sugar and carbohydrates. once they're depleted your body will tap into your buffet reserve..

At close to 300 lb, I would recommend something low to no impact for exercise, pool or stationary bike. You want to do something for cardio, but you should also do some weights, high rep low weight would be good, burn some calories and tone up a bit. If you do resistance, you will increase your lean muscle mass. Muscle is going to burn more calories than fat, so the leaner you are, the higher your base metabolism will be. Work out in the morning if you can, it will bump your metabolism up for much of the day.

I always tell the old ladies to lift weights. Stronger is more stable in general, and the weight training will increase bone density too, not so much a concern for you probably, but elderly women are a different story.

I would tell you not to get a treadmill. I have seen a lot of treadmill injuries. If you have any problems with your gait, on a treadmill you will tend to amplify them as your stride does not vary much. In the real world, your gait varies, the sidewalk is uneven from tree roots, the road goes up and down, whatever.

Oh yeah, flexibility is crucial. IMHO many if not most athletic injuries are due to lack of flexibility in one way or another. Stretch before and after excercise,

I've been thinking about dusting off the Klein. pumping up the tires and riding around a bit now that the weather is cooler.

Do it tabs.

I've lost almost 100 pounds in the last year and a half or so. I needed to reach 245 by my last birthday to call it an even 100 but I'm stuck on 250...which is fine with me as I am well over 6' tall.

FWIW I lost all my weight by walking, a lot. Like at least an hour or two a day. I also cut my food intake by ~50% and knocked off the booze while I was really at it.

You can do it. All you have to do is make the decision to.
