MTB Guys, I need a crank arm.

Well, it’s worth a shot. I cracked my left arm at the hub, and now I need a new/used arm. It’s a Deore XT 175mm 1996 or 97 vintage. Cheap would be good…

Is it the side with the gears or without? I have an old XT arm with gears that I can measure and send pics if needed.

You better check out your bottom bracket. If you did something that would crack that thing, it probably broke something else too, that is what happened one time to me when a chinese lady in her mercedes hit and ran while on the phone.

If you did not hit it on anything and just twisted it off with your massive thighs, call the manufacturer about that defective piece they sold.

It's the side without the gear. It's just the arm.

Thanks though.

Checked Cambria's site, and all I see are complete sets. Haven't had any luck with local shops either. Unless I replace the whole set...

Ah! You're a MTB'er. No wonder you think riding on the street is ridiculous.

Check out http://classifieds.roadbikereview.com/index.php. I've seen some mountain bike stuff there. If not, they can lead you in the right direction.

Bummer, Cambria is usually pretty good with that stuff. I suppose you could get a crankset and just keep the other parts as spares. . .

Not ridiculous, just scary as he!! I like bombing around town, but I know I could get hit at any moment.

No worse than driving a car...but I digress. Good luck with your search for a crank.

I should have one for you, probably not XT but one that will get you going if you do not want to buy a new crankset. PM me later tonight and I will go out to the garage and look. I switched from the Shimano stuff to some lightweight fancy crap a few years ago. After 2 arms broke at the bottom bracket area, I switched to Raceface and have been happy. I must admit, since the 2 little ones came along, my sweet full suspension rig has been getting dusty and I have been getting fat. Need to get back out on the trail. I used to ride 6 days a week for many years, then that slowly creeped down to zero.
