British Columbia in May
I'm thinking of taking a week long driving tour around BC, Canada next may.
What should I expect in the way of weather? I plan on Vancouver>Whistler>Lilloet> Litton>hope etc.. nothing really structured..stay in B&Bs etc.. no real fixed plans or will the weather suck, and I should plan on going later in the summer?

It used to be one could make general predictions about the weather here - but those days have gone for good with climate change.
That said, the most reliable months are still August and September. Of course May could be perfect with not a cloud in the sky for 31 days - as it was last year. This year though the story was very different. Let me know when you come through. I would be happy to put you onto some very good driving roads.

It'll probably be wet and/or cloudy near in the west. I thought about doing the lower west side of the Rockys in May sometime for the wildlife. Just did Jasper & Baniff 2yrs ago post tourist season in Sept.. rutting season can be wild.
If I had to do a May BC I'd chase around the wildlife and bring a West Marine store "Pro Ranier" style rain suit that won't get torn up trucking around outdoors.. and a pocket warmer. party hearty

May should be good. You have mentioned some good driving areas, but don't overlook the "Arrow Lakes" region in SE BC.......Check around the towns of Nelson, Kaslo, New Denver, Naskup, and Hwy 3 heading back west is not to be missed.........Weather is much drier once you get "east of the mountains".....

Im planning on being there from 5/10-18 maybe the following week, plans arent cut in stone yet.
Ill be meeting someone in Vancouver, then proceeding on the tour around BC. Any nice driving roads will unfortunately be experienced in some econobox ren-a-car Jeff, I didnt realize Langley was suburb of Vancouver, or at least thats what it appears to be from google maps. Im sure Ill have an evening or three free... this is going to be a vacation after all and so far, the only plan is meeting someone in Vancouver and taking it day by day.

May I suggest a map? It's a 2.5 hour drive from Seattle to Vancouver - depending on how pumped up the boys at the border happen to be. Jeff: You're in Langley and 25 minutes from downtown? What the he_l are you driving?

You can go Seattle to Victoria I believe, and then Victoria to Vancouver on the ferry. Not sure if the Seattle leg is a car ferry though. It has been a long time since I looked at that route.....
Dottore. I am 2 mins from HWY 1 at 200th street. Didn't say what time I was going...... ![]() Cheers

Tim,
Try positing in the Canada forum and you might get more responses. Anywhere in BC is a beautiful drive. If the highway's done the drive up to and around Whistler is very worth it. Cheers

I posted in OT because this forum gets the most traffic and has the most opinions.
In any event the only reason I asked about a ferry from Seattle is that JetBlue doesn't fly to Vancouver. I figured it might be a nice trip be ferry from Seattle to Vancouver.. I wont have a car on this leg of my trip

Horizon Air (Alaska feeder) Jazz (aircanada feeder) fly multiple times a day between KSEA and CYVR. Helijet may have restored their helicopter service by then between Seattle and Victoria (maybe).
Cheers
