I obviously don't know how hard that hit was but sure seems to me that it's a pretty weak point in the front suspension. Never had a Hummer and won't own one soon. I prefer my pick-up w/ the crew cab.

Is that the steering knuckle recall? Pretty spooky, but they never have that problem on the suburban, which is the basis for the H2, something to do with the funky steering geometry

Somehow I knew this wasn't a discourse on why "blow" is used instead of "suck"

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Everyone knows that off-road for those things means backing it over the flower bed.

LOL. I would make this exact statement on another (car) forum I belong to and man, would the nasty comments (from Hummer owners) roll in.

Looks more like inept off-road driving than a vehicle deficiency. Anything can be broken including Land Rovers which by the way, followed the introduction of the Jeep by about 4 or 5 years - the British didn't originate the concept of a competent off-road vehicle. Too many off-road drivers have only had training in the form of watching chase scenes in movies. There is skill and knowledge required to do it well. Any idiot can go banging through the rocks instead of placing the wheels, differentials, steering gear, rockers, etc. in the right places relative to the rocks and other terrain features and SLOWLY picking one's way through it. That being said, the better off-road vehicles are the smaller models with low gearing and good clearance which tends to exclude Hummers, Suburbans, large Jeep station wagons, Range Rovers, most large pickups, small cross-overs and any kind of "pretty vehicle". If you care about the paint being scratched up it isn't an off-road vehicle. Some of the full-size Dodge trucks without a pickup bed (flat bed) do very well off-road when equipped with a diesel engine.

That's an old video, i had a friend send it to me a few years ago. He's a big land rover fan so he thought this was hilarious.

As already said by Jim, many off-road vehicles, including rovers and jeeps, can be easily broken in that manner with dumb driving. There's a dude down the street who regularly off-road's his H2 and I think they do ok with proper driving and limited trails. Most off the shelf SUVs are not suited for difficult rock strewn trails.

To each.....his own. (no offense intended to anyone) My wife drives an H-3, we are not "off roaders" did not buy the car for that. We live about 20 miles out of town with road conditions in the winter that at times can get a little ugly. It is her daily driver to work, school (UCSF, about a 4 hour drive) and occasional jaunts to Yosemite. It gets decent gas mileage, around 23-25 hwy/16-18 city. I must say it comes up short on acceleration (a straight 5 and over a ton of metal and plastic), but at cruise speed it is a very comfortable car to drive. Although the seat adjustment controls are my biggest complaint, it has a pretty sharp factory sound system. Overall I find it to be a very nice car, although not my choice (I enjoy trucks and Porsches) she loves it, and if it makes her happy.............I'm
