Lost her medals, still has jacked up teeth I bet. Can't say I am surprised about this, her ex-husband was a shot putter who got banned for steroids. She was a client of Balco, just like Barry Bonds...

Guess the bill came due, huh?
I'm not sure the adulation and accolades seem worth it now. Especially since one news article said she's broke. The medals are going back but of course no one remembers who the "new" Gold, etc medal winners are. Trying not to be cynical here but does anyone else see a tearful Oprah appearence on the horizon?

Not at all surprised and knew it was coming. She kept saying "I did not do drugs" when her hubby got wacked off at the knees but everyone knew what was going on.
Do not feel even 1% sorry for her...

You have to punish these guys. It's the only way to show the kids there are consequences for doing this. Gotta keep the kids from thinking this is the only way to win.
All tainted athletes need to be brought to light.

If you see footage of some of her races, you can see something was definitely going on.
The differences between athletes at the world class level is measured by 1/10ths of a second. Not by the 7 lengths she was suddenly winning by in short sprint races. |

In Track and Field, everything is quantified and measured. The difference between being number 1 and number 5 is substantial in the appearance fees they can get. A sprinter who runs 98% as fast as Number 1 doesn't receive 98% of number 1's appearance money.
Because of this, the compulsion to take the enhancements is strong, because the rewards are great. And Track is a testing ground for other sports, IMHO. It's very prevalent in many high level sports. Good grief, Arnold Schwarznegger used Steroids to become Mr. Universe and then, irony of ironies, was on the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness. Does anyone think his career path would have been the same had he not used the Steroids?

I did'nt realize we had so many experts on steroids here. I've been researching the subject of steroid use in sports for 25 years and the comments here are nothing short of, well, dumb.

A starter question then: Let's say an athlete is diagnosed with hypogonadism at age 35? If that's to easy, explain how the suspension of Hollis Thomas was fair. Discuss, as I'm about to watch the Petit Le Mans where only the cars are on steroids, and I really don't care in attemting to educate you guys.

Are you going to enlighten us on steriods or the history of those accused of using steriods?
Even if you have been RESEARCHING steriod use for the last 25yrs, that doesn't make you an expert on steriods. That might make you an expert on its history in sports. |
