Is that supposed to be a "slam" upon those that do? If so, then I agree, you don't "get it". I like a few of the artists that would be considered "country" (Waylon, Johnny C., Buck Owens (pre Hee-Haw ) , and a handful of others) but most of these guys were "punk" before their time, and can "rock" with the best of 'em. I grew up on rock with lots of blues, etc. thrown in, but do appreciate lots of different styles. It's also safe to say that many of these guys "made it big" due to (or in spite of) their "rebellious" side ...just like rock, a huge aspect of it is "attitude" !

I grew up in Chicago and I still dig on old Waylon Jennings music. When I was in Germany in the 70's his music was all over the radio stations.

Not a slam. I just never understood the appeal.

His son Shooter Jennings is actually quite good as well. He has the same f-em attitude.

On a side note, Shooterplayed his dad in the movie "Walk the Line". definitely go check him out if you get a chance.

I like "old" country, but I generally find the new stuff obnoxious and phony.

The only "new" country musician I've actually bought is Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans. Anyone else ever hear this guy? Catchy tunes and a good songwriter.

I'll just have to do that! Although I don't get out to see bands much these days, Shooter does hit a local club on a semi-regular basis and I have also heard the same thing from others. Thanks!
