O.k., maybe it's time for a more serious observation. Years and years ago, I was out hunting in the north Okanagon. It was black powder season, and at that time we could still hunt during the rut. So I was sitting in a stand of deadfall early one morning and a doe stepped out, looking a little agitated and looking over her shoulder. Aha; all I had to do now was await her suitor.
Almost on que, out steps a fairly decent, mature buck. Just as I'm pulling the hammer back on the ol' .54, out steps an even nicer one. Neither buck appreciated the other's presence or advances on the doe, so a pretty damn good horn-lockin; hoof-stompin' fight ensued. I was too amused to shoot either one. Then, again almost on que, a little raghorn spike steps out from the other direction and promptly services the doe. The two sparring bucks never let up on one another long enough to notice. The doe left with the little spike. I shot the bigger of the two, and his nemesis ran off accross the meadow only to be shot by my partner who was watching the other end. I would like nothing more than to see this happen in today's political arena...
