At a gourmet restaurant I used to cook at in the 80's, we made them with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes served with sliced baguettes and endive.

Rice, minced lamb,, minced garlic, oregano, dash of allspice, salt and pepper - a few drops of olive oil.
That's the real deal - as it was taught to me when I lived on Crete. |

I love stuffed grape leaves, but I can sit at a little Mediterranean place around here and fill up on Feta, olives, and humus with pita bread for dipping.
