U can still find jems in the rough if you look hard enough, like a Rex Brandt Oil on Board for $150.00. Why..because the ding dongs couldn't read the signature... and only thought of him as a W/Cist....Now if they were familar with the style, pallet and the technical way that he liked to construct his paintings you woulda known..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1192580987.jpg |
Now get this..I told the sellers that I thought it was a Rex Brandt...they said, "Well thats not how he signed his signature." I replied, "yeah but all you have ever compared it to is his signature on W/Cs, which was done in pencil. this was done in paint." Because the signatures on his W/Cs were done in pencil it appears very near & legible the signature on this painting done in paint looks mushed. However if you look at the shack in the painting, do you notice the word "REX" staring you in the face?
Besides being on my wall, I know I've seen this image before. I just can't temember where? I think in a catalog of Brandts work, that I have been trying to find in one of my boxes. |
Tabs, is that your W/C of the boathouse and dock? Good composition, will look great on the wall. How about your 'Plein Aire" interest, has that made some $$ ?

Craig that is an Oil on Board and not a W/C.. however Brandt primarily worked as a W/C artist so that is why you would think of it as a W/C.
Yes it belongs to me...I have yet to cash in and The last thing I sold I made 15% on my money in about 2 weeks.. |
