Next DD Suburban or Landcruiser

Well sold the Targa and now selling my 96 Landcruiser to upgrade to a newer model year suv. Looking at a 2002 Landcruiser but the 2004 Suburbans have peaked an interest. I have owned two Landcruisers each with over 170k miles. Searching for insight on what to expect with a Suburban engine and maintenance vs. the Toyota or any other insight.

Here is my 96 for sale if anyone has interest please pm me......

Go with the Toyota, you won't get the service from the GM. JMO

One of my regular car service drivers went from the last model Tahoe to the new one and hates it.

My brother loves the Toyota. But then again he is the shop manager for Toyota dealer so his opinion may be biased

Is that an ARB front end? I like it. Is it locked?

Oh, I'd go Land Cruiser, they're the cat's meow.

Nice. If it's locked it will fetch good coin. I like the power if the 1FZ motor, but the 3FE hasn't let me down after 237K. Thanks for letting me window shop.

Why do you need such a large vehicle as a daily driver? Not flaming, just curious.

2001 Tahoe here with zero problems and 80,000 miles on it. I have never had a service issue. and mine has seen serious towing duties.

What is the price difference?

LC all the way. You can't beat a Toyota. My 2000 Silverado has been reliable, but the build, material, and driving quality just doesn't equal a Toyota.

MisterB, I'd be all over the LC, but I doubt I could afford it. Ohio is a bit of a drive anyway.

One is left to wonder why?

No flame intended. I have a 2000 Dodge Durango daily driver / tow vehicle and 1988 911 Sunday driver / track car. If I sold both I woldn't buy a big SUV. I'd pony up for a 997. Or at least a Cayman.

Capt. since you asked I will reply....

I became unemployed back in May due to a bank merger.... I am finding out that the current job market will not come any where near my old compensation/bonus package. While I enjoyed the Targa, I am not a mechanic and I was paying out of my a$$ for service. The family enjoys going on vacation on road trips. I find that driving the LC is most enjoyable and we get to see alot of the country. I am looking for a newer model which I plan to keep for at least 6 years. Believe me if I was still employed I would still have a Porsche or look to upgrade one. Oh and we have something called snow in our forecast in the winter, I couldn't stomach driving a Porsche year round up here.

Ed
