Gran Turismo Fans- Read

Apparently as of today, a downloadable demo of Gran Turismo 5 is available, and only available for a couple weeks.

You need a PS3, and it needs to be connected to the internet obviously. I'd never done that before, and right now I am watching the 'system update' bar slowly move 1% at a time.

If this works, I will post "IT WORKS- I HAVE GT5 running". Then you won't hear from me for about a week. I will be busy playing.

Man I hope this works.

If you pause the porn download, it should go faster.

At least that's what I had to do...

I knew something was sucking up bandwidth

But now, I come to find out that the first article I read was wrong, and that the GT5 demo won't be available until the 24th. Oh well... I am downloading GTHD in the meantime. Its supposedly OK, but nothing like the screenshots sony has teased us with from gt5.

They have a 2006 Ferrari 599 in the HD version. I wonder how you get it. I'd love to hear how it handles.

It's available from the Japanese PlayStation Store - you just need to sign up with a Japanese account (which is very easy to set up).

The 736MB download is going very slow!

Get Forza2. GT is dead along with the PS3.

What's the estimated delivery date on the full version again? I have to start putting money into the slush PS3 fund.

Forza looks pretty sweet, but I still have a hard time justifying spending that kind of money on a game system (probably $500-$600 by the time all is said & done between the console, driving wheel, game, etc.) Plus who knows how long it'll be before the XBox 360 is retired. It's already been out a couple of years, making it a dinosaur by game standards.

Plus its a Microsoft product. That makes me inherently skeptical of it.

No one knows when the GT5 will come out, it slipped and slipped and slipped, you might be able to buy another Porsche by then if you start saving for GT5 now I believed they said next year, but that is what they said last year. That said, I would like to see it come out soon.

Jeff
To get the set up to play GT5, you could buy Forza2, Xbox360, wheel, play it now and go on a track day with the money you save.

HD, shoot me your address, I will send you something in the mail.

I'm actually kind of tired of forza2. It's a great game but i hate the unevenness of the car classing system. Seems like they tried hard to undo the single car domination of the last forza series, but it happened anyway. Plus the modding of the cars has lost it's novelty. I think i'll wait till codemasters releases Race Driver One, since it would technically be the 4th installment of the toca series and those have always been very impressive for just sheer racing simulation. As far as GT, Polyphony digital is behind the curve on everything except the graphics of the game (which look very impressive by the way). Their games were always on top and in a league of there own, but with today's technology there's no reason not to have a better physics engine (GT's cars all feel like they are on rails, could never really feel the unique character of a car's handling) and damage models (come on even need for speed series does damage, even if it's only cosmetic).

I've read that Microsoft's planned 4 year lifespan of the xbox360 will be upheld. There's also been rumors of MS working on it's successor, with it's release being in 2009 (4 year mark).
