As happy as I am that the Red Sox won, I wish that we could've seen the series played out without the 9 day lay-off for the Rockies. It would've been interesting to see them when they were rolling.

Simply awesome. As a kid growing up in New England, I NEVER, EVER thought I'd see the day when I'd say, "wow, it's so great to be a New England sports fan - the Red Sox just won the World Series for the second time in three years and the Patriots are 8-0, possibly on the way to their fourth superbowl championship in seven years. And the Celtics look like they might be contenders too".

Not in a million years did I think this would happen. It's surreal. I got so used to the Patriots/Red Sox sucking year after year after year it still baffles me that these are the same teams.

What a tool.

Eh, that "tool" will be smiling as he's inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Look up the stats.

It probably stems from having it smack him in the heel yesterday, inducing a slight stutter-step and arguably robbing him of the extra fraction of a second necessary to avoid being called out at the plate.

Manny might be a bit brash at times, but it's NOTHING compared to the showboating and egotistical jackassery of the Yankees and the likes of A-Rod (who I'm happy to say, will be leaving the Yankees to hopefully spend the rest of his days with a third-tier team in relative obscurity).

Ummm...like the Angels?

I don't think a third-tier team can afford A-Rod.

Well, the last time would have been 1986 - but it wasn't as extreme as this:

The Red Sox JUST won the World Series, sweeping the Rockies in 4 games. 2nd WS title in 4 years, with Francona NEVER LOSING A SINGLE WS GAME.

The Pats are 8-0, with Brady having already thrown 30 yards in touchdown passes (the record for a WHOLE SEASON being 47), and they are averaging about 44 pts. a game. An undefeated season is a probability. Moss and Brady are in line to break a number of records, and the Pats are Super Bowl favorites.

The Celtics are about to start their season being Finals favorites (after trading for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett), after having the 2nd worst finish last year

The Bruins are expected to suck, but they are off to a 10-6 record. UCONN football has started 7-0, and B.C. football is ranked #2 with a 8-0 record. Has New England EVER seen a fall in sports like this?!?

GO PATS! GO CELTS!

Porsche-O-Phile 10-28-2007 10:30 PM

Actually it would be interesting to see Gay-Rod end up with the Angels. It'd make it all the more satisfying when the Red Sox sweep the Angels in the ALDS again next year. :)

And yes, I was at that game at Angel Stadium - it was delightfully fun to be there as a Red Sox fan, let me tell you. About the only thing that would have made it better would have been seeing "slappy McBlueLips" going down in flames along with the rest of the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. . ."

Forgot about B.C. No kidding - wow! I think the last time they were even on the map was back in the Doug Flutie days.

ESPN breaking news: A-Rod has opted out of his Yankees contract!

Don't know about that, but rings or not a tool is tool.

I'm just really really glad its over. Now I can watch Chef Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares on Wednesday night, instead of being pissed that there's a bunch of guys in uniforms prancing around and spitting.

Porsche-O-Phile 10-29-2007 07:16 AM

The best part is I don't have to listen to f*cking Joe Buck and his endless blathering about nothing for another year. Having to sit through an entire ALCS and WS of his "commentary" was pure hell. A reminder to me to fix the darned AM radio antenna so I can pick up ESPN radio and pipe in that audio instead in order to go along with the picture. . . It's on my list.

You're kidding, right? Manny Ramirez is a first-ballot hall-of-famer. 11-time all-star, 490 career HR (500 will come by late May next year, and he has plenty of years left), .313 career batting average (7th among active players), 20 career grand slams (2nd all-time, behind only lou gherig), the most HR of any player in post-season history (24),

There aren't many horrible fielders in the hall and without a doubt he is a horrible fielder. Heck he was basically a DH for over half his career. In, yea likely...first ballot, I doubt it.

Manny is Manny, love or hate.

Gay-Rod on the other hand...now that's a tool.

Porsche-O-Phile 10-29-2007 09:21 AM

Very true.

I wonder of Johnny "Benedict Arnold" Damon will come crawling back to the Red Sox now that the Yankees are imploding.
