Question In-dash CD players - how do you clean?

I'm having some trouble with the stock CD player in my van. When inserting a new CD all it says is 'loading' and then just ejects the CD. I'm guessing that the laser or something is just dirty. Is there something on the market that will work to clean this?

Thanks!

There are a number of products on the market. Maxell, Allsop, Memorex. They all use tiny brushes attached to a CD. Just put them in & press play & let it run for a minute. Best Buy, Circuit, Amazon etc should all have them.

Lasers also can quit lasering after numerous years & a repair is never cheap. Try the above method.

Retail CD or home made CD?

And lasers do flake out.

Helped a friend with her computer, she was complaining that CD's worked but DVD's did not.

Combo CD/DVD drives have 2 lasers, the DVD laser was bad.

Thanks! I'll look into some of these products. Has anyone tried one successfully?

All of the discs I've tried have been retail music CDs.

The van is under warrenty still, so i'm not worried about the costs of replacing. My worry is the monkeys at the dealer breaking the trim getting the unit out. I don't listen to the radio much, so not having a player isn't fun.

Thanks again, Pelicanites are always quite helpful.
