Yet I'm sure he believes shaking down doctors and insurance companies is a right.

widgeon13 11-17-2007 07:05 AM

guess he hasn't read the "Bill of Rights"

typical ignorant politician.

Porsche-O-Phile 11-17-2007 07:15 AM

I think that's giving politicians too much credit.

I think, even worse, that they HAVE read the Bill of Rights and think that:

1. it's outdated/does not apply
2. it has "exceptions"
3. it doesn't apply to them
4. it should be downplayed/circumvented if possible because it's "inconvenient"
5. they know better

or "6. all of the above"

I can think of very few politicians who are patriots. For that matter, I can think of very few patriots who bother with politics these days.

the whole ideological divide comes down to "positive" and "negative" rights.

positive rights are things like the right to an education, housing, medical care, food, etc.

negative rights are the right to free speech, , religion, self defense, property, etc.

negative rights are those things someone has to take away from you. positive rights have to be given by someone else. positive rights don't exist. most of the crap in this country comes from people who don't get the simple distinction.

He's an idiot.... 5years of working illegely here and citizenship is a right ??
what about $400 haircuts ? probably thinks that's a right too

Why is it that most socialist countries grant tons of positive rights and take away most negative rights?

Bread and circuses

Now there's a gross false genralization.

Don't worry Boyz Edwards doesn't have a snow-balls chance in he11 of being the nominee. Hillary has a well oiled machine behind her. Over the past 7 years she has built up a back log of people who owe her favors.

Gogar 11-17-2007 09:42 AM

The whole premise is BS.

What if something is neither a right or a privilege?

You guys are so hot about the gun part you didn't even listen to his other answers.

College education should be a right?
Health care should be a right?
Access to the internet should be a right? WHAT?

Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and access to the internet.

red-beard 11-17-2007 10:06 AM

Oh, I listened to all of it.

He is a friggen European Socialist.

College education should be a right? Wrong, it should be earned, there are many Grants and thing to pay for school, or you can do like I did (and others here too) work a few jobs to pay for it.
Health care should be a right? Wrong, taking responability for your self and actions. Access to the internet should be a right? He just wants to get more votes from low achivers on dial up
