MySpace Hoax story
Anyone seen this?
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/21882976/?GT1=10547 What kind of a world do we live in where it's against the law to solicit kids for sex over the internet and somehow this isn't illegal/punishable? So now someone is dead and a family is ripped apart over something an adult that should have known better created? WTF.

I agree. This woman maliciously pursued this young lady with the sole intention of harming her....perhaps emotionally, but nontheless, to harm her. She should be held to some level of culpability in Megan's unfortunate death.

It is a tragic story... however myspace and the person behind it, are the vehicles to the end... but not the symptom.
Whether the girl's history of problems were chemical, emotional, heriditary or learned experiences, we dont know and only her family would know (if they examine the situation truthfully). The tragic use of Myspace for this vehicle, illustrates the problem that vehicles for fraud, manipulation, corruption etc. are much more prevelant today, and becoming more and more prevelent with the explosion of the internet and global communication starting in the 20th century. For these vehicles to be used to prey on the mentally-emotionally deficient, is tragic but unfortunately can not be fully avoided... other than using prevention, to give your children an incredible amount of love, support and understanding from day 1 of there birth... trying to prepare the child for the rough "real world" that exists out there and is spinning every so quickly out of control. |

You used to have to PHYSICALLY interact with people ...as in face to face encounters. Today he/she is my friend, tomorrow he/she has turned on me and now I hate him/her. What's old is new again. Ahhh ...the computer generation! I'll just sit behind a screen in my little, cozy environment, punching keys and pretend to KNOW someone ...doing the very same thing ...many miles away? The 'my space', 'face book', 'you tube' (et al) generation. LOOK AT ME! NOTICE ME! I too want my 15 minutes of fame!!!! ...so the dance continues.
