How high is too high (maintenance women)?

Slodave's comments on the $20 dilemma got me thinking...what is too high maintenace in a woman?

C'mon don't be falsely macho...we've all put up with more than we should at some point in life...but how much and why?

I'll start: Dated a great woman for 3 1/2 years...funny, intelligent, hot, rich. But GAWD I put up with such crap...we couldn't go 10 days without her getting PO'd at some little thing I'd done. And I do mean little. Case in point: She had purchased some old ornamental ironworks in NOLA she was going to make a table lamp with. Had all the parts gathered down to the shade but never put it together. Sat on a work bench for the 3 1/2 years I was with her. One saturday she was out running errands so I decided to suprise her and assembled it as a surprise. Took all of 15 minutes. You'd have thought I'd ***** on the dining room table...she threw an absolute fit.

She was already pretty well off...once I handled the sale of a bunch of stock for a closely held corp and tripled her net worth...she became even more unbearable and that was it for me.

Why did I put up with her? She was funny, intelligent, hot and rich...but in the end not enuff of any.

Wife now is the lowest maintenance woman I've ever met.

I had a girlfriend who was not the brightest fork in the drawer. She was a waitress in sports bar when I met her. She was constantly asking me to buy her diamonds and jewelry. I had just graduated from school, and I was flat broke at the time. It was damn irritating.

But DAMN she was freaking hot. Beautiful Croatian girl with a body that was a brick house. And she could GO my friend. She came to my work one day, and asked for me. The guys nearly fell over. She left and my boss said to me, "Jeezus, how the f*ck did you manage THAT!".

I've had my share. In fact I'm usually a magnet for the psychos. Anyway, I had once where we broke up 3 times in 7 weeks. She was hot, 1/2 Italian and 1/2 French, had style, was an engineering manager, was great in bed, was super hot, did I mention she was hot? She was also a medicated psycho+AADD+OCD. She would freak out at the littlest things, let huge things go, and would chase her cats around with toilet paper after pooping...

Did I mention she was hot!

After breaking up the final time, she stalked me. See, she never had someone break up with her...

Did I mention how hot she was?

And even then, I ended up back with her for a month or so around Christmas time...

She was 37, I was 34, I ended up choosing to date a 24 yr old instead....who also had her own problems. Never date the Irish!!!

I had one that would have been pretty high maintenance. At the three month mark she informed me of the ring she was to be receiving for our engagement, and at 4 months she was shopping for a home with a white pickett fence. I knew how many kids I was to be knocking her up with and in what order. It was all planned out for me. No kidding. We made it 5 months.

OTOH, I once dated a girl who had never had a man buy her flowers.

Something I've noticed is that good looking women commonly go through like acting crazy as hell. When things blow up, there's always a line of guys wanting to help them put the pieces back together. Consequently, they have no motivation to improve.

I had a female friend in college that was so high maintenance that she felt she deserved her own harem of men.

I was apparently kept me on her permanent reserve list. She didn't want me dating other women, but she didn't want to date me either. I thought we were friends, so I'd tell her I was interested in chick XYZ. She would then take it upon herself to tell chick XYZ that I was a coke head (never touched the stuff) or whatever it took for the girl to lose interest in me. B!tch.

i have always maintained that they are all nuts. every last one of them. the only difference in various women is how much of it they show you and how soon.

There's a whole host of issues that go with that comment...

On another note - I can positively say that in my dating days there seemed to be a direct correlation between smoking hot and insanity.

I dabbled on the edge on numerous occassions - probably the dillards' model was the craziest - freak in the bed, but unfortunately also at random times in public too. ahhh good times....

I have done some work on a theory of mine. It says that it's the P that makes 'em crazy. Think about it. We only come in contact with the P for short periods of time. How much crazy ***** has that that limited contact caused you & everybody you know to do. They have to walk around with it 24, 7. The theory also says that there is a direct correlation between the level of the crazy and the quality of the sex. So when you or a buddy says "I met blah, blah, blah and we relate, get along, whatever, what he's really saying is, she's still not sane and the sex is guaranteed to be bad.

Get you a good crazy one & ride till you're thrown. Repeat.

I've had a few nuts too. Craziest one was so hot, so sweet but oh so crazy. She was a gorgeous Filipina nurse and only ever worked nights. She'd come home at 6-7am and then could never sleep because of all the noise in the city, too much light in her apt., etc. She was always dreaming up conspiracy theories and accusing me of outrageous stuff that I had never even thought of doing. One day, while I was at work and she was at my house, she actually rifled through my desk and had found an old German salt shaker. It's a German custom go give someone a salt shaker and packet of Westphalian black bread when they buy their first house and that salt shaker was part of that gift I had gotten from a German friend. Anyway, nutcase gf calls me at work and demands to know what's in that salt shaker. I had to think about what salt shaker. Then I said, "Ummmm. How about salt?" She said it looked like blow. I said, "Well why don't you taste it then and you'll see it's salt?" BTW, it was a lot finer grain than the salt we have here. After some back and forth, I finally told her to take the damn salt shaker to her lab that night and have it tested and when it came back as NaCl, should could apologize. Then she sounded like Karen on Goodfellas with the "I'm soooorrrryyy!!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!!"

What a nutcase. Lots and lots of other crazy stories with her. Anyway, she got married about a year ago and I heard they separated about three wks. after the wedding. Whew!

I dated a girl in high school (who the crazy college friend had a hand in breaking me up with) that was on prozac, had done a ton of LSD and such. She was a freak (in both a good way and a bad way). She was divorced with a kid before I ever even got married.

Most of my friends and I all met someone in college, dated them for a few years, then got married. Not too many psycho stories.

My one college roommate did date a girl from back home that would call him 5-6 times a day (before cell phones were common). He ended up breaking it off when he couldn't deal with her calling over every single little thing.

I want to hear from anybody who had a way crazy girlfriend & the sex wasn't great. From my experience those 2 go hand in hand.
