Guitar players... anyone recommend an EASY love song?

Hello and welcome to: "Help Scott get laid!"

I'm a bass player by heart but I can bang out a few basic chords on the old ghee-tar... on a good night I can even rip up a basic three chord RnR tune on an electric with my buddies.

Been dating a lady for about two months and we have progressed to the point of hanging out at her place instead of having to go out... now we are talking about hanging out at my place... I jokingly tell her "don't be alarmed that I have two or three guitars laying around the place" she asks "are you going to play me a song?" I come back with "uh... yeah, sure".

Problem being I just goof around on guitar and don't know any love songs.

So all you musicians out there, any recommendations for a simple love song? Something with three or four simple open chords?

Seriously though, go to www.chordie.com and pick out something quick and easy to learn. REM's "The One I Love" is easy, or maybe a nice old blues tune. "Fetch me my nightcap baby, put on your mornin' gown..."

Per your initial post, I am worrying about you Scott.

Maybe you should go safe and pick something by Elvis. Like Love Me Tender or Teddybear. Most of the King´s songs are a few simple chords. Don´t forget to work on your hip moves.

More Than Words WILL get you laid if you have someone there who can do the harmonies with you. It's a very easy song to play and sing at the same time.

The right song depends on the age of the ladies. If they're in their mid-30's, then 80's power ballads always work. When the Children Cry, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, that kind of stuff. If they're much older, you can alway pull out Dust In the Wind. If you have some chops, classic Led Zepp is always a winner too. If you can sing and play Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, you WILL get laid. Now, if you want cred. with the guys, grab a 12 string, find the right tuning and play the Rain Song.
