what's the deal with the pirelli calendar?
I mean, seriously , it used to be a calender, with pictures of hot nekkid chicks for mechanics to hang out in their garage... and guys would come, drool, go a bit soft in the head and then subconsciously be tricked into picking Pirelli's for their car, or at least, that was the idea
sure , it was artsy fartsy nekkid, because after all , it was still intended as advertisement , not smut...it was T&A , but in a nice way... just artsy enough to say to the misses,"but it's art honey, it's ok" just got wind, the new 2008 Pirelli calendar is out and i don't get it http://www.pirellical.com/thecal/calendar.html no nekkidness, just artsy fartsy crapola has Pirelli changed it's core business from Rubber/Tires , to fashion and styling? If i were a mechanic with a garage, would i want to put this on my wall? i think not... so what's the point , why does the Pirelli Calendar still manage to be picked up as a newsworthy item "It's out!!" as if it's the thing we've all been waiting for ??? I fail to see how guys would dig it and girls, they get the same level of style and photography every time they pick up a chick magazine like Vogue or Cosmo or whatever.... i'm not buying Pirelli's anymore, they need to be sent a clear message about this...

I dunno... but in Italy (where I think the Pirelli started) now every single magazine or entity has a calendar with nekkid ladies on.
So maybe the Pirelli calendar was just one of the others now and they are moving towards something else. Plus I do not think every mechanic could get a hand on a copy of the calendar before the internet age. If I remember correctly it was considered a piece of art... |

mwah...it's just a classic gone gay now
seriously , who , except for woman and hairdressers, and Perhaps boy George, will go "woooow , the Pirelli Calendar is out " compare it to the previous decades hell, no need to go even that far, just look at the 2007 version or any 200x edition , except the 2008 one, all artsy fartsy, but all had fit birds , and all were suggestively made there was a hint of boob here, a thigh there, curve the other end, etc etc the 2008 version... most pictures the most you get is a bit of neck skin 3 pictures show a bit of shoulder or flat chest the closest thing to the older calendar, would be februari, that could have been part of one of the older calendar... and it would have been one of the filler pictures let's face it, in 2008, Pirelli decided that it's target audience is .... ![]()

The P calendar used to be one of the most difficult ones to get. Sad to see it slip to the PC world like this...
T & A still sells...

Look what happened to the old Snap-on calendar. Disappeared as not to offend.

I thought the Europeans were not afraid of this stuff?
What are they turning into a bunch of neo-con, conservative, up-tight, fundamentalist pilgrims?? |

since when are breasts evil?
friggin' gay movement............. I once had a snap-on coffee mug on my desk at this little airplane company called Boeing, the Boss said "that has to go, it's offensive".........On it was a Daisy Duke clothed woman, nothing showing not even some nip, but yeah short shorts and half undone flannel top. So I took some white-out, and covered her eyes, thighs, and clevage, and said "is that better now?" nope, yet we can watch Baywatch on TV with all the girls in swimsuits RUNNING in slow motion every time they do a rescue? Sometimes it SUCKS to be an american white middleclass male. When do I get a parade? The rainbow gays do?

One of my favorite books is a pirelli calendar book, intro written by David Niven. "Heavenly Bodies, The complete Pirelli Calendar Book" Published in 1975, it contains the calendar pics from '64 to '74. My favorite year remains 1969...the Southern Cal beach scenes.
I kinda feel sorry for you young guys...you missed a golden era... ![]() (edit) I showed the book to Evren when he was here...he blanched a bit when I reminded him that the beauties in the pics are his mother's age...ahh, but in this book, they'll be forever young.

I think people were offended 'cause they couldn't open it at work or around their young children.
