If it didn't get so cold I would move to New Mexico.

I like N.M. If my wife wasn't so attached to her job here I'd seriously consider moving there.

New Mexico has a lot going for it. Good people and great outdoor opportunities. Poorest state in the country, though.

Per population we have a lot of veterans here. Hell most of the jobs that hold LC together comes from NASA and White Sands Missile Range. It's crazy just how many veteran license plates i see driving around here. Also there is Ft.Bliss across the boarder in tx, Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, and Kirkland AFB in Albuquerque.

New Mexico also leads the nation in federal spending. The state gets over twice as much federal funding as the state pays in. For every dollar the state pays into federal taxes, the federal government spends $2.04 on the state. Maybe that's why they can afford to take such good care of their veterans?
I spent most of my summers in Las Cruces with my grandparents when I was young. I still have family in Anthony, Artesia, Alamagordo and alba-kirk-y. (It's easier to spell that way). My brothers and parents were born there, I'd hafta say it's unofficially my home state. I'd love to have a nice place in Cloudcroft and a home in Las Cruces. That way I could switch back and forth when the weather got to be too much. |

We're heading up to Wolfcreek in southwest Colorado after Christmas and the thing I'm looking forward to most is the green chili in the ski lodge! I cannot find a good recipe for green chili, anyone have one? BTW, Richardson is my choice for Pres, unfortunately he doesn't have chance in hell ![]()

NM is near the worst in almost every category....poverty, education, life expectancy, medicine...Richardson has not changed things a whit.
But if you are one of those who make a good living...the climate is nice and traffic is low. Housing has gotten pretty expensive in Albuquerque, but nothing like in CA or the Northeast. If you moved here with a good profit from your CA, DC, or Phoenix home...you could live quite well...Things move sorta slow...old cars really don't rust...and fresh roasted green chili rocks.
