Cars you lust after
I just ran a thread to get opinions form my fellow 911 friends on my possible 2003 BMW M3 Cab purchase. It was a cool thread in that we discussed other cars, but from a 911 viewpoint.
I used to lust after every new car, but these days, I really only truly lust after a few. Oddly, my lust doesn't follow the dollars. I lust cheap. I lust pricey. So, what do YOU lust after? (other than the car you own!) Of course, i own an old 911, so thats off my list. I also lusted after the M3 cab, but thats now in my garage, so thats off the list. Which leaves Ferraris...but not the F40/F50 variety. I would kill for the V8 Scuderia. man o man, THATs a car. And, the 911 GT3 hubba hubba. ![]() And, to round out my list, the Aston Martin V8 coupe. jeez, is that one of the best all time shapes? i think so! Then there's vintage, but I'll leave that for another thread. What are YOUR 3 lusted after ??

well, besides my own 911...
Ferrari F355 GTS Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 993 C4S Among the new cars: the Audi R8 and Ferrari F450, I'm also excited to see the new Alfa Romeo 8C but I think that car for $250K was sort of stupid of them to do that. |

I am planning on buying a second "Fun" car in the next year or so, here's what I am thinking (my budget is about $40k):
-Lotus Elise -2009 Chevy Camaro (would have to wait for them to come out in a couple years) -Another 930 (plan is to buy it for $25k +/- then put some $$ into it ...rebuild engine and trick it out) -Porsche 993 Camaro is high on my list because of 4 seats (I have a son and another kid on the way). Yet, tricking out a 930 would be a great father son project. -I learned everything about cars working on them w/ my father.

I lust heavily after an E39 M5. Want one BAD.
Oh, I get 3? Ok...hmm..well 2 more that I could actually afford... 993 C4S and '72 911 coupe. Hey, just because I own a '72 911 coupe doesn't mean I can't lust after it - right? Dream cars... Porsche 959. Sorta like Salma Hayek, nothing is ever likely to unseat this car (or Salma) from the top of my list. Also the '73 RSR and rounding out the list, 904 GTS.

If it could magically always work, a Ur Quattro Sport was my dream car as a kid.
The Lotus Exige is pretty hard to pass up too. I think I lust after any down and dirty lightweight sportscar, but relatively modern. As in 80s onward. I've never been in an old sportscar and felt really comfortable. Well... except for a 911S that I had the supreme pleasure of riding in. What an engine note too! Jeez! |

Even though this one is a few years old I think it's still 10^10^10 more beautiful then the Scuderia.

I've got to limit it to 3???? Impossible. That's like saying, "pick three women that you'd like to have sex with." Duh, the list is looooooooooong.
New $$$ cars Carrera GT McLaren F1 -- not technically new, but I'll make an exception for this one Koeniggsegg New $$ cars 911 GT3RS Ford GT Gallardo New $ cars Solstice turbo Elise Caterham 7 not new porsch 550 959 '67 R Ruf yellowbird Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB 250 GTO Lambo Miura Jag C-type D-Type E-Type hot rodded mini etc........ And that's just the sports cars. That doesn't count the muscle/pony cars.

Ferraris are brillant, but stigmatised. Why not a car (or three) with real world performance that equals or exceeds a Ferrari, but is out of left field.
1. ![]() 2. ![]() and, of course, 3.

If ever possible I think it would go like this...
I love the idea of a 997 GT2 for when the others are in the garage or it's raining. Ferrari 250LM A classic 4 1/2 Liter "Blower" Bentley I suspect that the last two wouldn't be that available so I'd settle for these as replacemants; In place of the 250LM I'd make do with a Ferrari F40 or if forced to go new I suppose a 430 Scuderia would do. For a cool cruiser maybe a Bentley Arnage T in place of the 1920's Bentley.
