Why, wouldn't want your browser/OS to auto-run an .exe doc?

Forgive me, I just had to . . .

Best,

Kurt

This one really is safe.

As in www.myurl.xxx <----- this is for demonstration purposes only.

.ru is a java extension that can be used to create java programs.
In this case .ru signifies that it is a Russian website.

Example www.google.ru

A .ru is a Russian domain.

However, not all Russian sites are hazardous to your computer's health. Thanks for the link. Good stuff.

It's a Russian domain; many are notorious for having malware on board. Plus, the tempting content could drive lots of traffic to any malware that may or may not exist in the source code.

Best,

Kurt

Seems safe on Firefox too.

Checking out the "hairstyles" over the years is rather interesting. I think I like it better now...

.ru is a TLD - Top Level Domain. As pointed out before, .ru is for Russia. For example, .uk is for the United Kingdom, .fr for France, etc. There is a .us for the United States, but we global piggies assume that if it is .com, it's probably ours. While not all .com comes from the us, you will know that all .jp comes from a Japan hosted website. You will also commonly see .co.uk or .co.fr to indicate it is a commercial entity.

Here is a list of TLD's if you are wondering.

Anyway, one of the ways to be on the lookout for phishing scams is to look closely at the URL, and in particular if it appears to redirect to resolve to a Eastern European TLD.

Maybe not completely safe unless your security is above average.

Check the page source and search for: "u5994.00.spylog.com"

Good call,

I am sure they they are using some type of logging tool (who doesn't), but the reference in the source is the html code for the banner ad at the bottom of the page.
