Thieves piss me off!

Yup, these ones had stones!
I went out this morning to put my daughters car seat in the BMW when I noticed there was a cinder-block under the side of my wifes Saturn...

Sure enough, somebody decided to go "mid-night shopping" for a Saturn rim with a new tire Thankfully they left me the lug nuts.

I just don't understand some people.

Best of all, there is HUGE municipal street light across the street, apparently they didn't care that it was well lit.

I guess I'm just venting, the spare is on now, so at least my wife can get to her final this morning... It just burns me.

Yea, I wish I'd been outside smoking a cig... I'd probably already have the f***er mounted as a trophy in the shop!

Know the feeling. My sympathies.

Several years ago I was at an auction at a large hotel, large city, major traffic flowing on two sides. My car parked within sight of lots of traffic, two restaurants, hotel foot traffic, two hundred yards from I-44, etc. Sometime between NOON and 4:00 (broad daylight!) someone took a bat/pipe to my drivers side window. They wanted my Escort radar detector.

Not 2 months later I read in Car & Driver (they actually print a letter) from a thief that travels interstates, drives through motel/hotel lots, sees detectors, stops, swings bat, grabs ...gone! Back on Interstate in 2 minutes. Brags about how easy it is!

...and my stupidity for not hiding it.

Sorry to hear this.
You'd better take some preventative action now?

Happened to me too. Some bum took a wheel off my old SAAB in DC. Left me the lugs too. Nice guy.

That sucks, at least it was only 1 wheel. If it had been 2 or more, then one spare wouldn't have done the trick.

Wouldn't have been as frustrating had I not, less than a week ago, replaced 2 tires and rotated them! Who would have thought I need security lugs on a Saturn?

Live and learn I guess!

When I worked at a gas station in the 70's a lady came in saying someone stole two of her tires and left the car on blocks. We replaced the rims and tires. Sure enough next day she was back. Someone stole the new rims and tires.

About 10 years ago, my mother-in-law went out on a Sunday AM to start her Jetta and soon realized it wasn't going anywhere that morning. A couple of blocks held up one side, a jack had collapsed under the other. Gone were the summer tires, steel rims and lug nuts. The bastards had even pried the VW logo off the back of the car. At least they didn't scratch the paint, as they had lots of light from the street light about 20 yards away. The Father-in-law had winter rims and tires, but had to get the VW place to send him some lug nuts.

A day or so later I was talking to a friend who has a garage down the road. He said someone had removed the grill and headlights out of a customer's Jetta that same night. I suspect someone was rebuilding an A2 Jetta that week!

When I first got married some one stole the gerry can off the back of my Land Cruiser one night. I replaced it, and withing a week the next one was gone. There was no way to lock it in the rack, but I devised a way after that. Then I left the lock off, but filled the third one with gas and a cup of sugar. A couple of days later the punk accross the street was out working on his small block powered Vega. Seems the motor had siezed. A week later when he tore it down, he found all kinds of hard brown crust and glaze in the bores and in the valve seats. Imagine that.

Now that is a great story!
