Absurdly enought, it is true. Rather symbolic actually, ladies castrating the strength of men.

The lion has been in the Swedish crests since Birger Jarl (1250-). Quite a tradition then.

Too make matters worse, they actually made crests without genitals back in the days too. They were given to traitors of the crown..
