Goose limit and a greenwing drake to boot!

Legal was 6:47 and we were DONE by 8. 3 of us in the boat and each got the 2 goose limit. The greenwing drake was a lucky shot on my part and a fantastic bonus!!!

soaking in brine now; will probably grill the teal with wood chips for some smokey flavor. geese are gonna be chili or jerkey (or both!).

A very good day! Makes up for all those days where it takes all day for the same result. This is the first year I didn't duck/goose hunt in quite some time. Your post makes me wish I had. Here's a few photos from a layout boat on the shores of Lake Michigan in the UP. -- "benellifan"

Nice looking rig there Curt! What brand of boat is that?

Have you seen the videos from mightylayoutboys? Unreal how in-yer-face those ducks get!

My hunting buddy finally bought a small duckboat (Momarsh DP) and i'm hoping he and I can take the little boats (i have a stealth 1200 and used it exclusively before i got my TDB14) back to this spot next weekend. The ducks seemed to be a LOT more sensitive to his big boat blind than the geese were.

Come to my house in Denver.

There's green mucousy goose **** everywhere. Lawn, sidewalks, driveway, running path, the soles of my shoes.... Just stand in the middle of the street daring you to hit them. Little old ladies stop and back up traffic for blocks. Canada geese, like those.

Sit on my front porch, drink beer and get your limit every 30 seconds.

Help me out.

Of course it's illegal to shoot the da== things in Denver city limits...

Yeah, I'm shooting a Benelli Super 90 M1 right now. I absolutely love it.

When I say 'layout boat' I'm using the term very loosely We actually built some custom rigs specifically for the rocky shoreline we often hunt from. Started out with an 'Otter' (basically a small boat intended to haul decoys), and added some BMX-type wheels, a zippered camo top that you can zip over yourself, etc. We have to haul our gear across about 1/4-1/2 mile of rocky shoreline to get to the water. These work perfect. We sit inside them to keep dry and cover up with some brush.

Edit: And my buddy is sitting up in his right here. Normally, we are laying down completely - they're so comfortable it's easy to fall asleep!

l-r beretta 391 (mine), beretta xtrema & browning BPS. bps is pretty but guy shooting short-shucked several times (to my benefit and delight). i had an m1 for a season but got tired of it going out of battery every time i set it down on the butt too hard. it was one damn tough gun though!

Hahahaa! I was wondering if someone would notice. That's the main reason I went with the Benelli. As luck would have it, it fit like a glove too.

I came VERY close to buying a Stealth 1200 a couple of years ago. It seems like a great solution for many types of hunting. I'm assuming you like it?

heavy as **** but BIG time stable and pretty comfortable too. i wouldn't want to load it on top of a car but i use a pickup so no big deal. my buddy's momarsh is a better boat for paddling but i use a trolling motor on the stealth and it does just fine. you don't want to have to drag it any distance though!
