It's a lot like a stripper pole, without the stripper.
Or snail trails...

Hmm I see, yes a bit like a strippers pole but some how a lot less interesting. I may be fairly atheist in out look but even I would rather have a tree than that.

Nativity scenes are fine as long as they show baby Jesus as being black the way he really was.
Excuse me. That should read, "the way SHE really was..."

That's cause you have to have some balls in this country to be Wiccan.

My daughter has been studying for the last three years. I figure if she can learn to whip up a brew to calm my wife once a month I'm all for it. I know, the whole "not for personal gain thang".

Not to mention some interesting eastern writings.

Bob, just to help you get into the spirit of Festivus, I thought I'd post this helpful link. It provides all you'll need to know to both understand and appreciate this very important holiday. Have a Happy Festivus up there in the frozen tundra.

There are no contemporary accounts, engravings, relics, archaeological sites or written history for any of the cultures that existed in that area at that time (Greek, Roman, Syrian, Egyptian, Jewish) that chronicle the existence of jesus. No contemporary historical or archaeological evidence at all.

There is no contemporary evidence that any of the events involving jesus happened at all either.

So, just like all other religions, Christianity has absolutely no evidence of fact behind any of it's core dogma.

Muchos gracias! Very entertaining. I think we already gotten off to an excellent Festivus start with the "airing of grievances" right in this very thread. Good form lads!

Next up - "Feats of strength". I'll do my part by downing two glasses of 15 year old Scotch - - - - - -WITH NO WATER!!! Or ice.

Wish me luck.

Is it proper to arrange your Festivus pole above two pentacles? I guess if it's cold outside you need to move the pentacles closer.

John, do you have your pagan symbol (tree) decorated yet? The Festivus pole is easy set-up, easy take-down. And what finer way for family bonding than to engage in the Feats of Strength?

I love Festivus as much as the next guy and I appreciate its traditions, but the Festivus Pole needs something else. I do like it's minimalist looks and easy set-up/take down. I would propose that its appearance remain unchanged, but that the pole could also serve as an antenna, ion generator or alien thought screener.

I'm not saying that Festivus Pole dealers and lots be required to sell Poles with features, only that folks who choose to find functional uses for their Pole (in the privacy of their homes) not suffer any ridicule or be considered heretics by other more traditional Festivuns.

Happy Festivus and a Merry New Year!

Best,

Kurt
