Computer Guys - need help with SD card

Bought one these scrolling picture frames and I'm loading digi pix onto the 2GB memory card. Card is 1/4 full yet it won't take any more pix. When I try to drag & drop the next pic I get an error saying "The directory or file cannot be created." I know some memory is used for exe files etc but it seems nowhere near full. Help its a present for Mom.

PS It has a few Porsche pics on it so when I visit her I can check out my rig...

Try formatting the card and copying files again. Make sure filenames don't have non-alphanumeric characters.

what format is the card in? Fat? Fat32? NTFS? EXT3? Sometimes the size of file is larger than the filesystem can accept.

Thanks for the replies. You guys were right, I had to format the card. I formatted to FAT 32 and voila, lotsa space.

also for anyone else that may have issues in the future...some card readers will work with the SD/HD cards but only up to 2GB, so even a 4GB card will only read 2GB. I purchased a digital photo frame for my mother and this was an issue I ran into so I purchased a smaller card for her frame and a HD compatible reader for me so the SD/HD cards can be read fully.
