You really don't have to look at this stuff you know. Simply don't turn on your computer, don't click on this website, don't sign in, don't get on this thread, don't read the posts, and then you will not need to pretned to be above it all and complain! Why would you go thru all that if you don't want to see it???? You remind me much of the goobers who yap about the contents of a book or radio or TV when the only thing they need to do is don't look or turn the damn thing off. Cheers.:) |

So you do not recall saying that "corp" and "core" are pronouned the same??? Well, you did. I responded that not only was "corp" not a word ("corps" is the correct spelling) but I also attempted to inform you that "core" and "corps" are not pronounced the same. What is unclear about any of that? |

And let's be honest......what exactly would you hire either of those guys to do for you? In the job market they would probably rank somewhere between your local illegal alien and a recently realeased convict! SmileWavy |
The United States should just surrender our national will and be done with it. There is an old saying that when the going gets tough the tough get going. That no longer applies to America we have become a nation of whining self indulgent pansies. Just listen to any news broadcast and listen to the drivel that is spewed in the name of Political correctness. Every child winning or losing gets a trophy. What ever happened to competition on the field, you know winners and losers. Or No child left behind, the United States has dumbed down the education system to accomdate the morons in our society whom we now call smart.

The United States now has a loser mentality, that is how it applys to American foreign policy. Giving the farm away because we lack the moral resolve to accomplish anything more than changing the remote on the TV when we hear anything disquieting. We all want to live Beverley Hills 90210 lives with out the sacrafice. With out the realization that all people ain't gona make it. Thats the dirty little secret they don't tell you while they are selling you on the idea that eveybody can live like a millionaire.

Okay then, so in the context of how it was written in the transcript by the CDC on this website http://www.debates.org/pages/trans2000b.html (it's still there by the way) should that not indicate to you that Gov. Bush said "kor" since it IS listed as "Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation building core from America? Absolutely not." That was my point. |
I believe his point was this:
From http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2000/debates/transcripts/u221011.html "we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not" From http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/10/11/politics/main240442.shtml "we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not" From http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/election/2000debates/2ndebate2.html "I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not." Something close, it's a transcript of Al Gore's speech "Iraq and the War On Terrorism" where corps was used instead of core. Note: this website says in versus from after corps. From http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/library/news/iraq/2002/iraq-020923-gore01.htm "If we end the war in Iraq, the way we ended the war in Afghanistan, we could easily be worse off than we are today. When Secretary Rumsfield was asked recently about what our responsibility for restabilizing Iraq would be in an aftermath of an invasion, he said, "that's for the Iraqis to come together and decide." During one of the campaign debates in 2000 when then Governor Bush was asked if America should engage in any sort of "nation building" in the aftermath of a war in which we have involved our troops, he stated gave the purist expression of what is now a Bush doctrine: "I don't think so. I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I'm missing something here. We're going to have a kind of nation building corps in America? Absolutely not." The events of the last 85 years provide ample evidence that our approach to winning the peace that follows war is almost as important as winning the war itself. The absence of enlightened nation building after World War I led directly to the conditions which made Germany vulnerable to fascism and the rise to Adolph Hitler and made all of Europe vulnerable to his evil designs. By contrast the enlightened vision embodied in the Marshall plan, NATO, and the other nation building efforts in the aftermath of World War II led directly to the conditions that fostered prosperity and peace for most the years since this city gave birth to the United Nations. " Now, should that not indicate to you that Gov. Bush said "korz" since it IS listed in 3 other news websites as "Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation building corps from America? Absolutely not." One more thing, can we please move past this so I may be entertained by political banter and vitriol! |
