Favorite movie of all time: You have only one pick

For me it has to be The Thin Red Line. I watched it again last night. This movie is so powerful that I am speechless for the entire 3 hours. The imagery, music and thought conscientious completely blow me away. I can't think of anything as powerful.

I'd love to know what your picks are as well. Hopefully, provocative.

Lawrence of Arabia.

Ugh too hard to decide.

Either JAWS or THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Grew up loving both.

Shuie 12-23-2007 04:47 PM

The Usual Suspects.

Upon further thought, I'd have to say ESB. JAWS is undoubtedly a "better" movie (actually, I think it is one of Spielburg's best movies, and is vastly under-rated. There is more going on "under the surface" than just a stupid monster movie).

But when I was a kid, the STAR WARS movies were it. I am by no means a "STAR WARS geek", but I would have to say that THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is my all-time favorite movie. It is so well-composed, every frame of the movie is practically a work of art in itself. It took everything good about STAR WARS and made it bigger, better, and darker. Characters got deeper, and the drama got more palpable.

The Great Escape what a cast of A-List actors.

The Big Lebowski

The opposite of provocative, just brilliant comedy.

How am I pissing on your thread? By picking both? Or because I picked "sub-par" movies?

If it is the latter reason, I never said that they were the BEST movies ever - I minored in film in college, and I won't pretend that George Lucas does it better than Hitchcock - but there are nostalgic reasons for loving the movies that I do.

If it is the former reason - look at my last post :)

maybe he wanted you to pick Golden Showers 3 starring Monica Lewpisski

"Three Days of the Condor", no doubt in my mind. Great movie, if you haven't seen it find a copy.

MT930 12-23-2007 05:13 PM

Saving Private Ryan.

Lawrence of Arabia - David Lean knew how to make a movie

mattdavis11 12-23-2007 05:31 PM

Caddy Shack.

It's hard to believe that any movies were made after that flick.
