I like my Plantronics 550 ($50), but have heard the Jawbone is the best. Military technology, they say.

Rick Lee 04-23-2009 10:50 AM

So which model Jawbone or Plantronics is the latest, greatest? I can't get through all of them on eBay.

Joeaksa 04-23-2009 03:30 PM

Still love the Bang & Olufsen. Its still going strong with no issues and works great.

I'll be the lone dissenter. I don't use any bluetooth. On the bike I don't answer the phone. In the car I'll use the wired earbuds but I avoid the phone in the car as well. In fact I had a dream last night that I dropped the phone and it broke. I as happy in the dream. I might just live out my dream soon...

I have never thought about using a phone on the bike and rarely use it in the car. I just use a bluetooth when on the phone, as I hate holding it up to my ear. Thought I did pick up a new Shoei helmet yesterday, which is supposed to be very light on wind noise. Maybe I could use a bluetooth with it. Picking up my new bike on Sat.!!!!!

Sorry, you are not alone! I refuse to put one of those things on my ear. I would never use one on my bike. Couldnt hear anyway, after all I have one of those LOUDHarleys.:p In the car, if I have to use to phone I pull over.

I just ordered a Motorkr S9. Partly for phone and partly for music. Plus, it's hard as hell to hear in my 914 with the top down, so I am hoping this will be loud enough.

Go to Buy.com, they have some awesome deals right now.

Rick,

Here is a good, resent comparison article on the latest ones.

I don't even own a cell phone, but I wear a bluetooth piece in my ear all the time 'cause the ladies dig the look. Sometimes I'll pretend to have important conversations while people are nearby.

Dave L 04-24-2009 06:46 AM

I use a wired headset, the batteries dont run out, the sound quality is better and conecting it is easy. I work for a large phone mfgr and have a shelf of BT headsets, I use the wired one.

LOL, just looked around my office, I have 25.

There's no such thing as a cool blinking bluetooth light. What color faceplate do you use for "dork"?:p

I used to do this until we were able to get the medications "adjusted correctly" and those voices in my head slacked off...

The fit, oddly enough.

It comes with a couple of different hoops and ear canal tips for a good fit.

Have not come up with a combination that is comfortable for me or more important positions it correctly.

Proper fit is important for it to work properly.

It needs to rest against your face to pick up your speech properly.

When it's good, it's really good, but when it's bad.....

JavaBrewer 04-24-2009 03:08 PM

Not me. Not ever. I carry a mobile phone during business hours M-F 7-5 pm otherwise it's in my home office drawer. If I really really needed a car phone I would look into the integrated car units. Those plastic dongle devices sticking out of ones ear looks ridiculous.

peppy 04-24-2009 03:44 PM

My sons Phonak Nadia hearing aids are Blue Tooth compatible. I really don't know what they will do, but it was in the manual. I can plug an ipod into his FM system and he is supposed to hear it.

I have a lot of catching up to do on the technology.

I haven't quite figured out what to do when during those fake important calls, my phone rings? I usually pretend that I'm so popular, I need two phones. Hence, I wear matching Bluetooths... or is it Blueteeth?
